Pirate Day at Preschool

Today was Pirate Day at preschool.

I remembered this morning, but promptly forgot after going to the gym.

I remembered just as it was time to walk out the door, naturally.

I ran upstairs and got the pirate shirt that Jim and I had got Ryan in Cabo and put it on him.  I asked Ry if he wanted to wear a bandana on his head and he said no.  So, we put a tattoo on his head (where he asked me to put it), then he decided he wanted to wear the bandana, ugh.
This is what we came up with :)
I know we had a pirate patch somewhere, but we didn't have time to search for it.
Jake in his superhero, boot wearing glory, lol.  Whatever makes them happy, right?!?
And one more picture of the boys and their silly selves :)

There's Been a Potty Miracle

On Tuesday, Jake woke up and came and asked me if he could pee in his diaper.  I told him absolutely not.  If he knew he needed to pee, then he needed to pee on the potty.  He laughed and thought it was a joke so I got really irritated.  I told him if he peed in his diaper I would not change him.

He went all morning and most of the afternoon before he peed.  He peed so much that his diaper was sagging and he wanted a change.  He asked me several times to change him and I reminded him of our conversation that morning and told him I would not change him.

His diaper really started to bug him.  I told him he could change his own diaper, but I was not going to change him.
He got a diaper out and tried and tried to figure out how to get that thing on.  He got really frustrated and begged me to help put a new diaper on him.

I told him I would not, but maybe Ryan would help him.  I never thought Ryan would try a put a diaper on Jake, but he tried!
Ryan was so funny.  He kept saying, "Mom, this is so hard!  How do you do this?  I can't do it!"  I was trying so hard to keep my mad face on, but had to laugh.  It was seriously so funny and the thing Ryan was saying.  Too funny!
I know, this is probably child cruelty, but I have just had it with Jake and his not wanting to use the potty even though I know he could do it.

Ryan gave up and wasn't able to get a diaper on Jake.  Jake cried and was so upset.
Jake was so exhausted he eventually fell asleep without any pants on.  Ryan and I snuck some unders on Jake while he was sleeping :)

Jim came home from work while Jake was asleep on the couch.  I told him I was going to the gym and if he wanted to put a diaper on Jake, fine, but I refused to.

Jim texted me while I was at the gym and said that Jake had came to him and told him that he needed to use the potty!  Jim hadn't put a diaper on Jake while I was gone and he had asked to use the potty!  I was shocked. Maybe my freak out would be finally got Jake to use the potty.

Jake was still trying to go potty when I got home from the gym.  He finally went and was so happy.  We put Jake to bed in big boy unders!

It's now 2 days later and Jake is still wearing unders.  He is doing really well, even with pooping on the potty.  It's a miracle!

We're down to 1 kid in diapers again :)

One Month Old

Alex is 1 month old!
My little peanut on his 1 month birthday.

It seems like just yesterday I was counting down the minutes until February 2, and now we've had our little guy here for a whole month. I won't lie, I'm glad he is here--it's a lot easier to bend down, sleep at night (even though we're not getting a lot of shut eye these days), and food/sugar doesn't make me sick even when I was so hungry or needed a sweet treat.

Life is just better all around.
(except for the lack of sleeping part)

Here is what Alex is doing at 1 month:
  • Ryan and Jake love Alex. They are actually pretty good helpers with the baby, too. They will get me the diapers and wipes when Alex needs a change, they like to help me bath Alex in the mornings, they like to give Alex his binki,
  • Makes little coos, grunts, cat like noises, etc.and I love them.  I even love his cry.  He gets so upset sometimes his little chin quivers.
Ryan wanted to have a picture with Alex.  He's a pretty good helper.
A few crazy pictures from our photo shoot :)
Love his cross eyed pic in the top right picture :)
Alex was almost doing a back bend while sleeping in his bouncy chair this morning.  I had to take a picture :)

Ryan's Fieldtrip to the Dentist

Today, Ryan's preschool class took a field trip to the dentist.  Jim came home and stayed with Alex so I could go with Ryan on his field trip.  Jake came along, too.  We've been on this field trip before so I knew it was pretty short and right in Spanish Fork so we wouldn't be too long.

The kids learned about x-rays and how they take pictures of their teeth.  The kids were all really good and listened really well.
Some of the preschoolers that were on the field trip.
Next, the lady took the kids to the exam room and showed them how they clean teeth and how they check them out.  Jake thinks he's part of the class and gets right in on the action.
The dentist comes in and talks to the kid about brushing their teeth.  He shows them some of the tools they use.  He even uses the water tool and squirts water in the kids' mouths.  It's pretty funny.  They look like they've been shot when the water hits their mouths :)
Ryan got a turn brushing the horses teeth.  He had just barely got his turn and the kid next to him wanted to take the horse hence the look of death, lol.

We had a fun trip to the dentist and it was a good little trip out of the house for me.

Reunited And It Feels So Good

I went back to the gym tonight.

The last time I went to the gym as January 10th.  It has been 40 days since my last workout.  It feels like so much longer!  Even my boys have been asking when we can go to the gym again.

I couldn't do much tonight and I feel like I've lost a ton of strength, but I'm ready to get back at it.

Here's to getting back in shape!

Baby Booty

Is there anything cuter than a baby booty?  I LOVE it!

I had to get a picture of his tiny baby buns so I can always remember how cute it is!

Funnies

We've been trying to convince Jake to use the potty even though he has no desire. He shows all of the signs that he is ready to potty train--he wakes up dry, we can tell when he needs to go potty, etc. but he is just not interested, ugh.

The last time we bought Jake diapers we told him that was it--that was the last pack of diapers we were going to buy him.

We are getting to the last of "the last" pack of diapers we were supposedly buying Jake. Every time we change him we remind him that he is down another diaper, and we ask him what he is going to do when the diapers are all gone. We literally have about 4 diapers left for Jake (thank goodness he only uses 2 diapers a day--3 but rarely more than that). On Saturday we even tried putting him in underwear. He bawled and carried on saying he wanted his diaper back in because he just loves his diaper. He was even hugging his diaper!! Yeah, it's that bad.

Today we broke down and bought another package of diapers for Jake, we didn't let him know though. He still thinks we're almost out. This afternoon he came and told me he had peed and needed a new diaper. First, I told him we didn't have any so he went on playing. When he wasn't looking, I got a diaper out and told him I found one in my purse. While I was changing him, I told Jake that this was his last diaper so he needed to keep it clean. I told him not to pee or poop in that diaper. Instead, he should tell me when he needs to use the potty so we can keep that last prized diaper clean since he loves them so much. Jake then asked if he could toot in his diaper. Oh my hell, this kid cracks me up! I couldn't keep a straight face.

This kid--getting Jake potty trained might be the death of me!

Another funny moment today--Ryan licks his lips. It gets so bad he gets a red punch looking mustache all around his lips.

He's been licking his lips a lot lately and has the punch stache right now so Jim took him upstairs and put bag balm all around his mouth.

Ryan hates having the bag balm on his lips--he says it burns. The Roper's had brought the boys a little bubble gun that blows air and he kept pointing the gun at his lips so the cold air would blow on his lips.

I then told Ryan he smelled like bacon because of the bag balm on his lips. He told me if he smelled like bacon that I couldn't eat him! Too funny!

Weekend Visitors

On Friday night, the Eyre's came for a visit to see baby Alex.  My boys were so excited to see Madeline, Dallin, and Ethan.  In fact, Ryan had wanted to make a Valentine for Madeline, but we never got around to making it.

The Eyre's brought us yummy Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner.  They even brought a dessert pizza that I couldn't keep my mitts off of.  It was delish.  They also brought a gift for Alex--two cute outfits and a monster beanie hat.  The one outfit has monster feet on the pants--they are too cute!
They Eyre's with baby Alex.

On Saturday, the Roper's came for a visit.  My boys were just waking up from naps so they weren't quite sure what to think.  But they turned into their normal silly selves in no time at all.

The Roper's brought a gift for both my big boys and for Alex.  The big boys got bubble guns that they love.  They brought Alex all the gear he'll need to go swimming this Summer--a swimming suit, towel, sunglasses, and a hat.  He is set.  Now we just need Summer to come (and for me to lose a few lubs before I can go to the pool, ha ha).

Both Keaton and Hayden took turns holding Alex.  Alex really liked Hayden--he went right to sleep for Hayden and kept smiling at him, too.

I tried to get a picture of Alex smiling for Hayden, but I missed both of his smiles.

We love having visitors and were so glad to have some this weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day {2013}

My mom and dad had to come up to north today to run a few errands so we went to Carl's Jr. for lunch today.  My boys had a blast and loved getting out of the house.

Ryan had preschool so took him to school after having lunch with grandma and grandpa.
Ryan made this Valentine's box in school today.  He got some pretty yummy treats from his class mates, too,
Jake had to have his pictures taken, too, but he would not take a serious picture.  Little turkey.
Here's our little peanut on his 1st Valentine's Day.

Jim was going to bring home dinner, but ended up staying late to work.  They are doing interviews for a job and had to get the interviews done.  I won't lie, I was a bit peeved.  I made mummy dogs (very festive, just not for this holiday, lol.  I had all of the ingredients and knew the boys would eat them.  They are fast, too.) and I had froze red punch in heart ice trays to put in some Sprite.  They thought it was pretty cool.
After dinner, we opened their Valentine's.
The boys opening their Valentine's from Grandpa and Grandma Mangelson and from Jim and I.  Audrey also brought over a little treat for them.  She is so thoughtful!
Jim and I gave the boys Hotel Transylvania for Valentine's.  We had a movie night, of course, and watched their new movie and ate the treats that we gave them and that Audrey had given them.
I tried to get a picture of the boys together--this was a good as it got, lol.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Dr. Love

Scott and Molly gave Alex this cute onesie.
I had to take some pictures of him as Dr. Love :)
The picture I posed on instagram and facebook.
Jake wanted a picture with Alex with his Power Rangers in the picture, too.

Long Winter Days

Holy cow, these long Winter days are starting to get to me.  I don't know if its because we don't get out of the house much or what, but it seems like February is dragging on, ugh.  It's been so cold (didn't get above freezing today) that we can't go outside.  It's miserable.

We didn't do much today.  Alex wasn't that good of a napper today so I didn't get much done around the house.  I could barely shower and get somewhat ready by the time he woke up from his short nap.

Jim brought me a diet coke from Johnny's at lunch time.  He stayed and had lunch with us and then took Ryan to preschool for me.  While Ry was at school, me, Jake and Alex took a little snoozer.  It felt so good to get a little nap in.

Alex didn't wake up until 2:30p and he needed to be fed when he woke up.  Jim was able to go and pick up Ryan from school for me, thank goodness.

Alex was awake and just hanging out when Ryan got home from school.  Ry wanted a turn holding Alex so I let him hold him.  Then Jake wanted a turn.  Jake wanted his picture taken so I got my camera out.
Jake holding Alex

Ryan loves to give Alex kisses.
This is a normal sight for the babes--his brothers leaning over him wanting to give him a kiss.

I took this picture with my iPhone and posted it on Instagram and Facebook to share.
I LOVE that he's looking right at me with his eyes wide open :)

3 Boys

Today, Jim went back to work.  He took all last week off, and it was so nice to have him home.  I really depend on him for help so I was a little nervous about being home alone with all three boys today.

Before Jim left around 8am, he got Ryan and Jake breakfast.  Alex actually slept better than usual last night and only got up twice.  But, just getting up in the night takes it toll on me so I was still asleep when Jim was ready to leave.  Before he left, he let me know that Ryan and Jake were downstairs.  I decided I better get up.  Alex was still sleeping so I needed to get moving.

The boys were just finished up their breakfast.  I hurried and made their beds and then came downstairs and unloaded the dishwasher.  I then made myself a protein shake and cleaned up the boys cereal bowls.  I sat down and checked my email and Facebook while I drank my shake.  Alex was still sleeping when I was done, so I told Ryan and Jake to go upstairs so I could get them dressed and ready for the day.

After they were dressed, I decided to hurry and shower and get ready since the baby was still asleep.  I couldn't believe he was still snoozing, but I took full advantage and got what I could done while he was sleeping.  I was able to get showered and ready, fold the last load of laundry that was in the dryer from yesterday (we are constantly doing laundry at our house--at least one load a day), and spiff the half bathroom before Alex woke up.

When Alex woke up, he was so chill.  He usually cries because he is so hungry but not this morning.  I changed his diaper and then brought him downstairs to feed him.  After he got his belly full, he was just content to look around.  Ryan and Jake both took a couple of turns holding him.  We just sat and held Alex and talked to him for a good hour.

Love Alex's face in the top picture.  That's the face he does when you try to give him his binki and he doesn't want it :)

We were watching cartoons while the boys took turns holding Alex.  Alex likes to have his feet and legs rubbed so Ryan was rubbing his feet.  He was watching the cartoon while he was telling me he was rubbing Alex's feet.  Well, the cartoon showed some building blocks so Ryan told me he was rubbing Alex's blocks. We both got a good laugh out of it.  The rest of the day Ryan would say he was rubbing Alex's blocks :)
Ryan rubbing Alex's "blocks"
Jake adores Alex and will always talk so cute to him.

I decided I would get him ready for the day before we pressed our luck and he got upset.  I took him back upstairs and got him bathed and dressed.  Even after his tub, he was still just so mellow.  I fed him again and he went to sleep.

While Alex slept, I got the boys a snack and then lunch.  I also got a few tasks done that I needed to and started to dust, something I've been putting off for a few weeks now.  He slept for a couple of hours, woke up and chilled for a bit, ate, and then went back to sleep.  I was actually able to get stuff done today.  I was hoping to get a nap in.  BUT, I hate to put my boys on self tend and sleep if no one else is at the house.  Hopefully Alex will sleep really good tonight.

I took a few pictures of Alex while he was sleeping.  He just looked too cute!

While Alex slept this afternoon, I had Ryan write his name on his Valentine's for school.   Valentine's is this Thursday so I need to get his v-day treats for school finished up.  He was so good about writing his name on his Valentine's, too.  I tried to get him to do it last year, but he wouldn't do it.

Jim came home around 4pm.  The boys were itching to go outside and do something.  He walked with the boys while they rode their bikes to get the mail.  It was freezing cold out, but they insisted on riding bikes and playing for a bit.  They needed to get outside and do something so I was glad they stayed out for a minute.

After they came back in, we finished up dinner.  I had started crock pot pork chops earlier so we just had to  make the potatoes and vegetable to go with the meat.

The rest of the night we just hung out and watched the Bachelor.  Hopefully Alex keeps sleeping a little better each night so I can actually decide if I like our new bed or not :)
