January Wrap- Up

I have a few random pics from January that I wanted to post.

Jakey occasionally likes to suck his thumb.
January 7, 2010:

Ryan's new favorite treat are apples. He just eats them a little strange.

Here is Ryan's plate of apples. He won't eat the peel; he only eats the inside :)

January 12, 2010:

We were going to get the mail in the afternoon this day. I told Ryan we needed hats because it was a little chilly outside. He grabbed Jim's Green Bay hat that was on the kitchen table. I put it on the smallest setting and let him wear it. It's his new favorite hat to wear :)

I love how his little ears poke out! :)
He is looking up at the brim and looks cross eyed :)

He was mad because I made him stop for a picture, haha.
January 25, 2010:

We constantly have problems with where the delivery people leave our newspaper. In the summer, they leave it on the grass so it gets wet when the sprinkler turn on. They leave it in the road, on the neighbors drive way, etc. They pretty much leave it somewhere new everyday--it's fabulous and makes Jim cRAZy to say the least!! This is where the paper was today. It was in the middle of the road--I had to take a picture.

Cars had to swerve to miss it. I called Media One to let them know and they just kind of laughed. This isn't the first time I've called to complain. They told me at one point the paper would get delivered right to my front door. It was on our door step once! I swear, who do they have delivering the newspaper??
January 29, 2010:

Today we were playing in Ryan's room and he found this shopping cart cover. He put it on like it was a coat! It was so funny :)

Jim put his legs through the leg holes so it was like a jump suit.

He climbed up on his crib to help me change the sheets. I know, I look like a hot babe--I hadn't got ready for the day yet :)
January 31, 2010:
Ryan has been itching to watch the movie Cars for a couple of days now. We finally put it in for him today and let him watch it. I didn't think he'd actually sit down and watch it though, but he did. I was surprised.

He sat on my legs and watched the movie. At one point, he was laying and had his head propped in his hands. It was so cute--we missed the picture though :(

Jakey is super ticklish especially around his neck. It's so funny when he scrunches up cause he is so ticklish.

This is Jake's usual face. He always has his mouth open :)

It's the last day of January, finally. Let's get Winter over with and move into Spring...
Welcome February!

Single Mom

Jim went to work today at 7am. He worked in Spanish Fork until 5pm and then had to go straight to Camp Williams for a meeting. I was at home with my boys by myself all day long. Jim left before the boys got up. I put the boys to bed around 8:30pm and Jim didn't get home until 9:15pm.

I'm usually with them all day long until Jim gets home, but it seemed like an extremely long day today. I'm very thankful and appreciative of Jim's help when he gets home from work. I'm sure he's tired, but I'm really glad he plays with the boys and helps me with dinner. And, my favorite, he watches the boys for an hour or so while I go to the gym!

When Jim got home he told me that he had to go to a conference in St. George February 22-25th. I went right upstairs and called my mom to see if she would be home that week. I'll definitely be going to stay in Levan. I'm not cut out for the Single Mom life, ugh.

Jake's 6 Month Check-Up

I took Jake to his 6 month check up today, even though it is more like his 7 month check up :) We took him to his 2 month check up late so it has pushed the rest of his check up behind due to immunizations.

Anyway, I was really glad he had his appointment today. I started getting headaches last week that turned into body aches that then turned into a sore throat. By Sunday night I was really feeling it. I had Dr. Behrmann take a look at me while I was there. I was just going to schedule an appointment for me with a doctor, but I thought why not kill two birds with one stone?? I was little nervous to ask him to check me out, but I'm glad I did. Turns out I have a ear and throat infection--hmm, sounds just like my kids. Now I know how they feel and it's not good. I'm now on antibiotics and acetaminophen for the body aches.

My little Jakey on the other hand isn't gaining any weight, which was a big concern to Dr. Behrmann. He grew about 1 1/2 inches but only gained about 2 ounces since his last visit two months ago. He is even eating 3-4 meals a day on top of nursing 4-5 times a day. I thought for sure he would have gained some weight. He is well though so he was able to get 5 immunizations and the first dose of H1N1.

I have to take Jake back in a month to get the second H1N1 dose and to check up on his weight. For now, I have to try and get him to drink some formula, which is quite the task, to get some extra calories in him. To say he HATES formula is an understatement. He looks at me like I'm trying to kill him and gags and shutters. Plus, he will not swallow the stuff. We may have to use the syringe to get any in him.

I called the doctor this afternoon to see if it would be okay to give Jake Pediasure--yes, like Ensure for old people, but Pediasure is for kids :) Jim ran to the store tonight to get some for Jake. Jake REFUSED to drink the Pediasure from a bottle and a sippy cup. So, we mixed his rice cereal with apple juice, Pediasure, and baby food and he ate it right up. I guess that is the magic formula we will be using to get Jake to gain some weight. I thought it wouldn't be so bad to have Jake not drink formula because it is so expensive. This Pediasure stuff is super expensive, too. I hope he doesn't have to be on it for long.

Here are his 6 1/2 month stats:
  • Weight - 15.8 pounds, which is in the 25th percentile
  • Height - 26 1/2 inches, which is in the 50th percentile
  • Head Circumference - 42 cm, which is in the 10th percentile

Hopefully we can little Jakey to gain some weight. I'm not sure what the next step will be if that doesn't happen ??

Visit with the Eyre's

My mom was going to Herriman to watch the Eyre kiddos while Emilee went into work for a bit. It was also Molly's Region Drill competition tonight, too. My mom was already coming up to watch Molly's team so I had asked her to come up early and we'd go run some errands. SO, when Em called to see if my mom could watch her kids in Herriman I decided to ride with.

We stopped and picked up some lunch at Wendy's. Ryan and Ethan eating their lunch

Madeline and Dallin eating their lunch.

Ryan with the mask on. I did not think he would put that mask on, but he did. He even kept it on for a few minutes.

My mom brought some little foam balls in that she had in her car. We did not tell Maddie to put them in her shirt like that; she did it all on her own. Doesn't it look so darn funny though!

Striking a pose with her voluptuous chest.

Ethan with his new look :)

Checking himself out--too funny!

And Dallin with his new look, haha.

We had a great time with those balls. I haven't laughed as hard as I did in a long time :)

Grandma playing with the kids.

Jake was good and hung out on his tummy for a while. He had a good time just watching the kids play. He was in awe :)
On our way home, we stopped at Target to get ink for our printer's that was on sale. I also had to get some diapers for Jake. It was getting close to 4pm by that time so we decided we'd pick something up for dinner at Cafe Rio so we wouldn't have to cook.
We ate dinner at my house. Grandma played "choo choo" with Ryan for a bit after we ate and then she headed over to Maple Mountain High School for the Region competition. Molly's team got 1st place in EVERYTHING! They are the Region Champs--way to go Molly!!
It was a fun day--nice to get to go somewhere and do something out of the norm :)

Playing Outside

It's been a bit warmer this week (in the upper 40's) so I've been taking Ryan outside to play in the afternoons. He loves going outside and it gives us something different to do. Plus, Jake gets to get in his cute snow outfit.

Me and Jake outside.

He drools alot :)

Isn't that the cutest snow bear you've ever seen. Jake likes going outside, too, for the most part. I think he'll enjoy it a little more this summer when it's warmer and he can crawl around. He'll really like it when he can run around with Ryan. I'm sure Ryan will love it, too.

Ryan was having a good time shoveling and scooping up snow and putting it in his bucket. He even ate a little, too. Yuck--kind of gave me the creeps cause it's yucky old snow, ick. He liked it though.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--I think he'd stay outside all day if I'd let him. Hopefully we can fence in our back yard this Spring. Then I'll feel a bit better about letting him go outside to play in the back yard by himself for a second :)

Here he is scooping up the snow.

Happy 9th Birthday William

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and also Will's 9th birthday. Jim had the day off and we were invited to celebrate Will's birthday so we made the trek to West Jordan for the day.

Both boys took their naps on the ride up. Jake is rear facing so I couldn't get a picture of him.
When we got to Will's house, he was playing his new Wii game, Bakugan, that he got for his birthday. He had also made a schedule of everything he wanted to do on his birthday. It was quite the list including playing Wii, going to lunch, going potty, giving his mom and dad a kiss, playing outside for 5 hours, and eating birthday cake, just to name a few.

We had lunch at Burger King at Will's request, which was also part of the schedule.

Grandma and Grandpa Nielson were also their to celebrate. They had stayed at Will's house the night before, too.

I tried to get a picture of the birthday boy at his birthday lunch. This is the face I got :)

One more try for a happier looking pic. A little better than the first :)

We stayed and chatted at BK for a bit.

Jake has turned into quite the lunch. He tried a french fry with ketchup today.

Ryan played with his new motorcycle toy that he got in his kids meal. He would also press his face up against the glass and watch the cars go through the drive through.

Will & Michelle played with Will's motorcycle toy that he got in his kids meal.

After lunch, we went back to Jerry and Michelle's house. Will wasn't back yet, so I had a quick game of Mario Kart on the Wii. Jake sat on the couch while I got my Mario fix :)

We opened presents after we watched Will play more Bakugan.

His Grandpa Turley gave him some Star Wars figurines. He was way excited.

He was so excited he did this and said, "Awesome!" His closed eyes were part of the "awesome" :)

Opening more presents...

He got some legos, too. I swear, all boys love legos.

He read and listened to the card his mom and dad gave him.

We had cake and ice cream after opening presents.

Getting ready to blow out all of his candles.

A picture with Grandma Nielson before she left to head back to Oak City.

And a picture with both Grandma and Grandpa Nielson.

AND...and picture with all the kids! Mya (on Crandall's lap) is Crandall's new dog, Moose (in the middle) is Will's dog, and Baby (on Guin's lap) is Guin's dog. Ryan loves Moose. I love hearing him say Moose's name. It's so cute. Just a fun fact, Baby is Moose's mother :)

It was pandemonium with all of the dogs for a minute and trying to get a picture.

It was a fun afternoon celebrating Will's birthday. Both the boys started getting tired, and Ryan's eye started to swell up (yet again) so we left shortly after Grandma and Grandpa Nielson left.

When we got home, it was time for dinner. We ate some leftovers from Sunday dinner that my mom sent us home with. Jake got his first taste of oven barbecued steak. He was loving it, too. He kept grunting and bouncing for more.

I know, I made sure Jim was only giving him super small bites and mashing it up, too.

Look at that messy mug.

While Jim would mash up the steak, Jake would get a little impatient and reach for it himself.

This is his grunting for more food face :)
We hope you had a Happy Birthday Will. Thanks for letting us share it with you :)
