Crazy Naps

I came home from getting my blood drawn and the boys had fallen asleep.  It was their nap time; however, what they had fallen asleep on didn't look super comfortable to me.  It looks as if they were mid-play and fell asleep :)
Ryan is asleep straddling a little stool.  Jake is asleep on a plethora of hard toys including a dinosaur, plastic sand toy, and an Incredible Hulk figurine.  Yes, he also has gardening gloves on.  His new favorite thing to wear except he struggles getting one finger into each finger hole.  It's painful to put the things on him, ugh.  It doesn't help that he usually keeps them on for 3 minutes and then rips them off.

Eventually I moved Ryan off of the stool and removed the toys from under Jake so they could get some good rest during their naps.

Tippy Toes

Jake's newest trick is to walk on his toes.  It hadn't really caught my attention until he started jumping up and down while on his toes!  I about died!!  Seriously, he is a nut!

I sent this picture to Jim.  To get Jake to hold still so I could get a decent picture, I had him hold on to the rail.  Otherwise, he would've been all over the place walking and jumping on his toes.

Yowza!!
Don't mind that he is in his diaper.  I was just getting the boys dressed for the day.  Jake thinks he is so big and can take his pajamas off all by himself.  While I was dressing Ryan, he got himself prepped and took him jams off :)

Ryan's Back to School Night

We had a busy day today.  After the gym, we ran a few errands around town and then headed to Levan to can salsa.

We were able to get 3 batches of salsa done which turned out 36 pints.  We canned 58 pints on Friday, too, so we are at 94 pints so far.  Jim and I ran out of canned salsa this year so I want to can as much salsa as we possibly can.  I LOVE canned salsa and I love that I know what is going into it.  This year we didn't use any sugar.

The only downside to canning salsa besides that it is hard work, is that you and anything that was in the house REEKS of salsa for days.  When I got back to Spanish Fork my purse and even my camera smelled of the stuff, ick. It's worth it though.
Here is one of the three pots of salsa simmering.

We left Levan around 5pm, late of course.  I needed to get home so I could make dinner and shower before our home teachers were supposed to come by and before Ryan's back to school night.

Luckily, Jim made dinner so I didn't have to (tacos, yum) and our home teachers didn't show up until after back to school night so it all worked out.

Ryan was so funny when we got to Miss Tiffany's.  This is his second year of preschool, but when we walked down the stairs he looked at me and wanted to make sure I was staying with him :)

Oh, I had signed up Jake for preschool this year, too.  One of the rules is they have to be potty trained by the time school starts.  Well, Jake has NO interest whatsoever in using the potty.  In fact, he is so stubborn when we can smell he is poopy and needs a change, he refuses and will say that he likes the poop on his bum.  He is such a turkey!  SO, I took him out of preschool. When Ryan and I were getting ready to leave for back to school night, Jake cried and wanted to go to preschool.  He kept saying, "If you leave, I will be sad and I will cry."  Pull on my heart strings.  BUT, he still has no interest in the potty.

Ryan is excited for school to start.  There are a few kids in his class this year that were in his class last year.  He was mostly excited there was another Ryan in the class AND a girl with a name that starts with a "J" like Jake :)  Her name is Jessica, ha ha.

Ryan starts school on Wednesday September 5th.  He goes three days a week this year--Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 12:30-3pm.
Ryan with Miss Tiffany--don't mind his grubby outfit.  It was all I could do to shower and get ready so I didn't stink of salsa.  He just got his face washed and his hair combed :)
Ryan spotted a rainbow out his window on the way home from Miss Tiffany's.  They were so bright we had to take a picture.  Pretty cool!

Trip to the Living Planet Aquarium

On the way to the gym Monday morning, Ryan asked if we could go to the aquarium after.  I told him that we couldn't go that particular day but maybe we could go this weekend.  Jim had a salute that he had to do on Saturday so, yes, we were heathens and went to the aquarium on Sunday.  I won't lie, I prefer to go on Sunday because it isn't as busy :)

We have been to the aquarium a couple of times before so I didn't take a bunch of pictures.  The boys had a great time though.
The boys on the big frog.  I know, the pictures are blurry.  They were on and off of the thing before I could get a good picture.  They didn't want to get back on for a photo op either :)
Jake inside of the otter look out point.  LOVE how his nose is pressed up against the glass!
Ryan and Jake had to make a souvenir penny on our way out of the aquarium.
After the aquarium, Ryan wanted to go and get lunch where "you call it in".  He was referring to the Training Table :)  SO, we went to the Training Table and got a burger, cheese fries, and some of their ultimate dipping sauce,  YUM!

When we were finished with our lunch, we headed back to Spanish Fork.  Jim and the boys lucked out this trip--I didn't have any errands/returns to make this trip to Salt Lake, ha ha.

Julee's Bridal Shower

We stayed the night in Oak City last night because I wanted to run in the Oak City Days 5k Fun Run this morning. All of the other cousins that were staying at Grandma's were sleeping outside on the grass so naturally my boys thought they were sleeping out on the grass, too.  Jim even set up their sleeping bags so they could sleep out.  I felt like they were both too young to sleep out without one of us so I made Jim pack up their bags and we all slept in the trailer.  Ryan got over it pretty quickly, but Jake bawled and carried on for probably close to an hour, ugh.  He kept saying that Grandma was going to be so mad at me because I didn't let him sleep under the stars, that I had broke his heart, etc.  He was really throwing out some good digs :)  Eventually he settled down and we got to sleep, kind of.

I don't get good sleep at all when we sleep in the trailer.  The boys and I slept on the full size bed and Jim slept on the bed where the table usually is.  Both boys wanted to sleep by me so I had to sleep in the middle.  I was constantly waking up to make sure they weren't too close to the edge and were going to roll off.  Ryan even rolled off!  I seriously probably woke up every hour, ugh.  It was a long night.  It felt like I just barely got to sleep when my alarm went off for me to go get ready for my run.

Last year, I decided people in Oak City are very competitive.  I wanted to try my best this year and not let any old folk pass me :)  There were quite a few more runners this year than last.  I ran the entire way and finished with my best time yet--26:45.  I think my time last year was 29 minutes.  Jim's cousins wife, Jennifer Snow, has recently picked up running.  This was her first 5k.  She smoked me with a time of 21:21!  I thought I had ran fast--she was ridiculously fast!

After the race, I went back and got showered and ready.  I had to be in Nephi by 9:30a to catch a ride to Julee's bridal shower in Saratoga Springs with my mom and Emilee.  Jim and the boys stayed in Oak City and participated in the festivities with the cousins.

The shower was really nice.  We got to visit, ate yummy food, and watch Jules open presents.  I'm really happy for Julee.  Troy is such a good guy and they make an awesome couple.  Plus, they just bought a house in Spanish Fork not too far from me so hopefully we can be work out buds, too.
Me, Emilee, and my mom at the bridal shower.
Julee, Me, and Lacy
This is Julee's soon to be niece.  She really enjoyed her eclair :)  P.S. Her mom said she got bit by something and that is why her eye is all swollen.
Julee with another soon to be niece.
Julee with her friends:  Charlotte, Loren, Cierra, Julee, Alex, and Jessica.
Julee with her in-laws: Kristen, Julee holding Abby, Tammy with Madison and Hunter in front of her, and Kindi.
After the shower, Emilee, my mom, Madeline, and I ran a few errands and then made our way back home.  I got back to Oak City around 5pm.  Both of my boys were out cold--they had played hard :)

By this time, I was really feeling my run from the morning.  I was so sore in my hips, thighs, and calves.  I ran a 5k in Levan on the 21st of July and wasn't this sore, yikes.  The only thing I can figure is I am 16 weeks pregnant so that is catching up with me.  I don't think I'll be running any more races until after this baby comes.

We had a good weekend in Oak City and Julee's shower was really nice.
I'm shooting to beat my time in the fun run next year!!

Splash Pad in Nephi

The boys and I went to Nephi to finish the thank you cards for the Wings of Love race with my mom and Emilee.  We decided we would take the kids to the new splash pad in Nephi and let the kids play.  I haven't taken my boys to the pool or splash pad in over a month I bet.  With Summer winding down, I figured I better try and get at least one last swimming play date in.

The boys had a lot of fun playing with the Eyre kids.  Emilee had brought some fun swimming toys that Ryan and Jake had a blast playing with.  Me, on the other hand, had totally forgot to bring any kind of swimming toy, ugh.
We don't own any swimming masks/goggles so my boys thought these were pretty cool.  I thought they looked so funny in them!  Ryan is in the bottom left corner of the picture looking in the water with another swimming mask on.
Jake wearing the orange swimming mask.
Ryan says Jake is done with the orange mask, yowza!
It started to cloud up and even sprinkle a little bit about an hour and a half after we got to the splash pad.  We had to leave Nephi by 4pm so since it was raining and the weather was getting icky, we decided to walk over to Reed's and get the kids some ice cream before we had to leave.

We had a really good time at the new splash pad in Nephi.  It is a great addition!
