Jake's owie is getting better. He has rubbed off some of his scabs in his sleep since he sleeps on his tummy. A bit of the scab is starting to come off and I'd love to help it come off :) Jim makes me promise I won't touch it though. I really don't want him to have a nasty scar though so I just put Neosporin on it and leave it alone.

Scary Fan!
While Jim was home on leave, he hung ceiling fans in the boys' rooms. Both of their rooms are on the west side of the house so when the sun is setting in the Summer months their rooms tend to be a bit on the HOT side.
I got online and bought some ceiling fans to match those that we already have in the house and had them shipped to our house in the Spring. Yes, we're just now getting around to hanging them :)
I had NO IDEA that the ceiling fans would create a problem for Ryan and him being able to sleep. Well, ever since he's had the ceiling fan in his room, he hasn't slept a full night in his room. He'll come running into our room saying, "cary fan! CARY FAN!!" Or, whenever we change his diaper he'll look up at the fan and say, "cary fan." Jim and I will tell him that it's not a scary fan, but it's a nice fan and it keeps his room cool. Seriously, how could a fan be so darn scary.
Anyway, both the boys still have bad diaper rashes from their diarrhea, ugh. We've tried just about everything to help them heal--Desitin, baby powder, Nystatin (a prescription we had for Ryan that is for yeast infections), and a bum cream that Paula gave us that is awesome and always clears up bum rashes--but nothing is helping.
Today I took the boys outside and let them roam diaper free for a couple of hours. They didn't know what to think at first, but they got used to it after a while. Ryan got in the sand box and got sand in places where you don't want sand :) I had to squirt him off with the hose, ha ha. Poor Jake pooped a couple of times while we were outside, but his poop is still liquid so it just looked pretty much like pee. I hope the fresh air on their little bottoms will help their darn diaper rasher clear up ASAP!

The culprit! Ryan's scary fan in his room :)
Jake has the same fan in his room.

Jake's 1st Big Owie
Today we were supposed to go to Keaton's 5th birthday party, but Jim has had the stomach flu for the last day and a half. He is feeling a bit better today, but we don't want to spread it around to the rest of the family so we decided to stay home :(
While Jim rested, I took the boys outside to play in the water. It's been WAY hot lately so they needed to cool off. We needed to get out of the house, too.
Ryan thought Jake needed to be watered instead of my plants that we just bought.
Jake trying to grab the stream of water.
The water was COLD!
But he loved playing in it.
Ryan decided it would be fun to water my plants for me :)
Jake has turned into a little monkey. His new thing is to climb on top of the picnic table. He thinks it's pretty funny :)
Ryan teasing Jake with his mow, as he calls it. Jake would LOVE a chance to push the mow around, but Ryan will not let him. He's pretty protective of his mow :)
After playing in the water for an hour or so, I got the boys changed back into their clothes. We went and met my mom and dad down by the freeway to give them our present for Keaton and the salad I had made for the party. When we got back, I was taking some things in the house. Jake was following me, but must have lost his balance and fell off the steps on the back porch. Luckily, he was on the bottom step. He bumped his head on the concrete and has a huge owie now.
We were supposed to get Jake's 1 year old pics taken yesterday, but because Jim wasn't feeling well we had to reschedule. Really, my boys aren't feeling the best either--Ry was sick earlier this week and has had a bout with diarrhea. And Jake has had terrible diarrhea and a horrible bum rash to go with it. He stiffens and bawls when he has to have his diaper changed, which is about twice every hour :( Anyway, now we have to wait for his little owie to heal before we can get pics taken. I don't want his 1 year old pics to have a big scab in them. I just wish we wouldn't have caught the gungboo so we wouldn't have had to cancel our pics and miss Keaton's party. Oh well, that's life.
Jake's 1st big owie--OUCH!
He cried really hard. He still has a tear on his face from crying and this is after I had cleaned off the scrape and held him for a bit. Poor little fella :(

Rock Spreading
Jim worked Monday this week and then took the rest of the week off so we could get some projects done. Jim's dads friend, Phyl, came up today with his tractor to move our rocks for us. We have 16 tons of rock to move, pretty sure we don't want to do it with a wheel barrow :) Thank goodness Phyl has a tractor and is willing to help us out.
Jim got up early to get things all ready for when Phyl showed up. He cut some weeds down, moved a few rocks that we already had, and put the weed barrier down.
Phyl showed up right when he said he would and got right to work.
Dumping rocks.
The boys thought it was pretty cool to watch the tractor.
I had to go inside and put Jake for a nap and get me and Ryan ready for swimming lessons. By the time we got back from swimming lessons, Phyl and Jim were done moving the rocks and Phyl had left.
We need to arrange some of the rocks a little bit, but it looks better than the weeds that we had going on :) My ONLY complaint is I think we didn't get the size of rocks we wanted. We wanted rocks that were between 4 and 6 inches. I think Staker Parsons gave us the 6-12 inch rock. Kind of frustrating since we can't really load it back up and take it back so we'll just have to live with it, ugh. But, like I said, it looks better than the weeds :) I still need to take a picture of the finished project.

Rocks for Xeriscaping
Jerry came down in the dump truck today to go to Nephi to get a load of rocks for our xeriscaping project. When Jerry and Jim got back from getting the rocks, Ryan was asleep seeing the action :(
Jerry getting ready to dump the rock out on the road.
A picture of the dump truck so I could show Ryan :)
Starting to dump the rock. It was SO loud. I thought for sure it would wake Ryan up, but it didn't.
Still dumping...
We were in a cloud of rock dust after all of the rocks were dumped out.
Jake checking out 16.3 tons of cobblestone rock.
Jim and Jerry discussing the project :)
I washed all of Jim's gear after he got home from AT. After his blanket sat on the dryer for a few weeks, I finally took it downstairs and told him to put it away. Ryan got ahold of the blanket and this is what they did. The blanket did get put away after they had a little fun with it first though.
I went to a Turbo Fire launch party in Provo later in the evening. Turbo Fire is a set up from Turbo Kick and I really like Turbo Kick so I decided to go. I even went all by myself since no on was able to go with me. It was alot of fun to go and a great way to get a workout in :)
Shukria, one of the teachers at Gold's Gym, held the launch party. She is the one sitting on the floor :)
Showing our muscles, lol.

Update on Ry
Ryan acted fine today and even ate breakfast. He didn't throw up in the night and hasn't since last night on our bed. I chalked it up to drinking too much pool water. BUT, then Molly texted me today and asked if any of us had been sick. She said she had thrown up all Sunday night and Kaycee had been sick that night, too.
I also read on my cousin's blog that their family had been sick. I'm thinking we all got some kind of bug at the family party on Saturday?? I hope the rest of us don't get it...

Swimming Lessons & Popsicles
Today was the first day of Ryan's swimming lessons! We signed up for the lessons in May so it seemed like June 21st would never get here :)
We did the Parent & Me class from 12:00-12:30pm. The plan is for Jim to come home from work for his lunch break and stay home with Jake while I take Ryan to his swimming lesson. Jake usually takes his nap anywhere from 10:30am-2pm so he should be sleeping when Jim is here so Jim can just get some lunch and relax for a bit.
Me and Ryan ready to go to swimming lessons.
Swimming lessons went well for the first day. Ryan loved getting in the water and kicked his legs just like the teachers asked :) It was tons of fun!
Ryan fell asleep on the way home and took a really good nap on my bed. I was changing out the laundry when he woke up. He came out of my room and stood by the banister. About five seconds later he threw up! I stood there in shock--I didn't know what had just happened. Then, he threw up again. So, I ran over and took him into the bathroom where he continued to throw up in the toilet. Poor little guy had no idea what was going on and I didn't either :( I wondered if he'd swallowed a lot of pool water or something. Plus, Ryan wouldn't have anything for breakfast or anything before we left for swimming lessons so I thought that might have something to do with it.
Ry didn't want anything to eat after throwing up. Jake had just woke up, too, so I had to get him lunch. I put Ryan on the couch with a pillow and blanket and had him watch Sesame Street. After I got lunch started and had fed Jake a bit, I went in to check on Ry. Just then, he started gagging again. I ran him into the half bath and he threw up again in the sink. He didn't have anything in his stomach so he just threw up bile. I felt so bad for the little guy. I gave him a dose of Tylenol and he laid back down on the couch while I finished feeding Jake lunch.
He laid on the couch for an hour or a bit longer and then got up and acted fine.
When Jim got home from work, Ryan wanted a popsicle. We all went out on the back porch and had a treat. Jake thinks he's a big boy and can hold his popsicle all by himself :)
Later, I went to Orem to go to my favorite Turbo Kick class (it used to be in Spanish, but due to lack of attendance Kristen cancelled the class and now teaches it in Orem, ugh. The SF gym has cancelled 3 of the classes that I like to go to now. I hope they re-evaluate in the Fall/Winter when attendance usually picks back up and they add some more classes). Anyway, Jim texted me around 7:50pm and said I needed to come home NOW. I didn't get the message until the class was over at 8pm. I headed straight home.
Jim had got Ryan in his pj's and sat him on our bed while he got Jake in his pj's. When he came back to our room, Ryan was crying and had thrown up again ALL OVER our bed! We got a new bedspread a few months ago and it says it is dry clean only, ugh. I washed one of the pillow shams first to see if it washed up ok and it did. I decided I'd take our bedspread down to the laundromat in the morning.
We're not quite sure what is going on with Ryan?? I hope he gets feeling better soon.

Happy Father's Day 2010
For Father's Day, we went down to my parents house for a barbecue. Yes we celebrated yesterday, too. My family always loves an excuse to get together :)
My mom made a ham and dad cooked up some yummy dutch oven potatoes. We also had corn (the corn that we froze last year, yum), salads, and dessert. Amy made this really yummy peanut butter cheesecake that was to die for--a little rich, but still oh SO tasty!
We got my dad a box grill for his Camp Chef. We've all been bugging him for years to get an actual grill. My dad argues that he doesn't need a grill; he has a Camp Chef and that's all he needs. Jim spotted these grill boxes in the Cal Ranch ad and said we should get that for my dad for Father's Day. Really, I'm glad Jim saw them because my dad is SO hard to buy for and I had no ideas of what to get him.
My dad unwrapping his gift from my mom. It is a watering arm--you attach it to your hose and it makes watering pots, etc. easier.
We broke out the kiddie pool and sprinkler again today. The kids loved it and it was a bit warmer :)
Hayden took over my camera for a bit and snapped this pic. It's a little dark but I rarely have pics of me with my kiddos so I posted it.
Ryan taking a break from swimming and running through the sprinklers.
Jason, Kaycee, and Emmalee joined us for our 2nd Father's Day celebration. They are down from Evanston, WY for a few days to visit.
Jake was getting way tired and fell asleep sitting up on the swing.
I have to mention how great Jim is as a dad on Father's Day :) He is seriously the best dad ever. Ryan especially loves that Jim reads books with him. I'm not a fun book reader but Jim takes the time to point every little thing out in the book and make sure Ryan sees and learns everything.
Jim always helps me out with them even after a long day at work. He changes diapers, feeds the boys (and me--he's a great cook), helps with bed time, tends the boys so I can run errands or just get out of the house. My mom tells me all the time how spoiled I am to have such a good, helping husband. I think I take it for granted sometimes. I just wanted Jim to know that I really appreciate all that he does. I really don't know what I'd do without him.
Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day Celebration at the Blackett's
We went to Nephi today to celebrate Father's Day with my mom's side of the family. Aunt Lisa always hosts Father's Day at her house and it's so fun. We always eat in the dance shoppe and this year Lisa had just put A/C in! It was actually a bit chilly in the dance shoppe, but it was so nice! Usually it's HOT so the A/C made a big difference.
We had Subway subs, salads, chips, and desserts to eat. The food was delicious! Our family always has really yummy food to eat.
My dad, Jim, and Jake waiting for the festivities to begin. I wish I would've got a better pic of them. This one is pretty dark :(
The crew chatting and getting ready to eat.
Jim and Jake--Jake loves his daddy.
After we ate, Lisa had a kiddie pool and slip n' slide set up in her back yard. There was also bocce ball and basketball in the front yard. Ryan loves water so that is where we headed.
I think the water was a bit cold :)
Ryan doesn't really slip n' slide, but he likes playing in the water. Zach also had a good time playing in the water.
It wasn't a super hot day and the water was cold so Ry would come over every now and again and wrap up in his towel to warm up.
The kids playing in the water. My cousin Marci's little girl, Macy, loved playing in the water but she would scream because it was soooo cold. It was so funny.
Jim relaxing outside.
Ryan loved snuggling up with Grandma. Not sure if Grandma liked it so much since Ryan was wet and cold. Jake liked the flowers on Grandma's shoes :)
We love to chat when we get together. It's always fun to catch up with family.
Cade and Casey were able to sneak in a little afternoon snooze.
Mandy with Emmalee
Not sure what they are doing?? I think Ryan may have been trying to give Emmalee rocks, ha ha.
Little Miss Emmalee Holloway
I've been trying to learn how to use some of the manual settings on my camera so I practiced on Emmalee. That's why there are so many pics of her coming up :)
Mandy was trying to get her to smile. She was thinking about it in this pic :)
And we finally got her to smile, yay!
The Father's Day party was tons of fun, as always.
