Baby Shower for Molly and Baby Boy Brenchley

We had a baby shower for Molly today at my sister Paula's house.  Molly's due date is rapidly approaching; she is due September 25th with her first baby boy.

The invite Amy made for the shower.
We all came to Paula's house at 9:30am to prepare for the shower.  We frosted 8 dozen star sugar cookies, 10 dozen cupcakes, cut up 10 pineapples, made punch, and cut up all the veggies for the salad.  We also had to set up the candy buffet and the food table.  We were all super tired by the end of the day :)

We were all wearing our aprons so we wouldn't get our clothes dirty.  Little Sophie went to her room and got her apron out so she could help and be like the girls.  Too cute!

Amy should open a cupcake shop--she can frost like a pro!
We had chocolate cream cheese filled cupcakes.
Homemade coconut cupcakes--no mix was used on these babies.
And vanilla cream cheese filled cupcakes.

And the left side with the lemon cake bites.
We served blue punch and lemon water to drink.

Kaycee and Emmalee came down from Evanston for the shower.   Molly holding her grand baby Emmalee.  Emmalee will be 1 on August 20th.
The master mind behind the party :)  Amy is so darn creative.  She has her own candy buffet business called Sweet Things Candy Co.  If you ever need a candy buffet, call Amy.  It will be done right and CUTE!!
Look at the cute binky tied onto the bag holder.
My Aunt Mary came down with Shelley, Cami, and Emmy.
The Brenchley girls and Eli.
The twinners--Nick and Sophie
Molly and her friend Marie.
My Grandma and all of my mom's sisters came to the shower.  From left to right:  my mom--Sandra, Judy, Granny J, Barbara, and Lisa.
My Aunt Judy and cousin Lindsey.
All of the girls in our aprons.  We came early to Paula's to frost cookies and cupcakes, make the salad, and set up.  My mom made the aprons that Paula, Amy, and I are wearing.  Emilee has an apron that my mom made her, too, but it's packed away some where.  I brought an extra apron for Emilee to wear that my friend Lacy made for me.
And all of us with Molly--the guest of honor.
Molly opening presents while my mom wrote down what she got and who she got it from.
The guests watching Molly open gifts.
Molly with Scott's sisters--Debbie, Heidi, and Robyn.
The Brenchley Bunch
Molly with a couple of her co-workers
My cousin Betsy, Aunt Nancy, and cousin Viv came down to the party as well.

We had a really good turn out for the baby shower and Molly got some much needed items to welcome Baby Kendrick (she still isn't 100% sure this will be his name but it might be) this September.
We can't wait to meet the new bundle of joy!

You Hear Me!

I was upstairs this afternoon cleaning the boys' bathroom floor, getting it ready to seal.  Jim was downstairs feeding the boys lunch.  I heard Ryan coming upstairs.  He came 3/4 of the way up and then stood there for a minute.  Then he yelled to Jim, "I want a pop-see see!  You hee me!!"  I came out of the bathroom and asked Jim if just heard what Ryan said.  Then Ryan said it again, "You hee me!!"

Apparently, Jim wouldn't let Ryan have a popsicle after lunch because Ryan didn't eat very well.  I guess Ryan hears us loud and clear when we ask him if he hears us :)

Ry has been saying some of the funniest things lately.  Last night, Jim was telling the boys they were rats for one reason or another.  Ryan looked at Jim and said, "You rat, dad!"  Ryan also tells us to "knock it off" and "DON'T".  We definitely need to start watching what we say :)

Play Date at Nephi City Park

My friend Kathryn was in town from St. George so she organized a little play date before she headed back home.  We met at Nephi City Park at 10am.  I was fashionably late, as always.

Really I wasn't late because we weren't ready and running on time--we actually were.  Let me explain.  When we moved into our house in October 2007, Jim and I purchased two couches from RC Willey.  They weren't the most expensive in the store, but they weren't the cheapest either.  In November 2007, just one month after purchasing the couches, I leaned on the back of one of them to get something off of our banister and the cushion "deflated".  That's the only way I know how to explain it.  SO, we called customer service and they came out and fixed it.  But, the damage was done.  I felt like we got a lemon for a couch.

In May or so, I noticed that the leather on the same couch that had to be repaired when it was one month old was starting to crack and tear.  Ironically, it was on the couch that we RARELY use.  Then I went to my mom's house in June while Jim was gone to AT, then we had Jake in July, and after that I was adjusting to life.

In October, the couch caught my attention again.  It was getting worse, but it wasn't getting any better.  I called customer service about it.  They informed me my warranty on the couch was up.  I was irritated but figured there was nothing I could do.  I went and looked at the purchase date on my invoice (yes, I'm a receipt pack rat--I never throw receipts away especially for big purchases like such).  I had called RC Willey's customer service 1 week after my warranty was up.  I was LIVID.  I called customer service again to see if there was anything I could do.  After arguing for what seemed like hours, the rep telling me that couches are disposable these days, and that people have to buy couches every year I hung up the phone ready to kill.

I didn't know what else to do so I wrote a letter to the head of customer service.  I got a response shortly after.  Marva called me bright and early at 6am.  I still have the voicemail on my cell phone to prove it, too.  In her message she seemed a little irritated that I didn't pick up her call.  Um, I was still sleeping.  I had probably just got back in bed after feeding Jake.

I got up and called Marva back when I woke up again around 8am.  She so kindly waived the $75 service tech fee as a one time courtesy for me.  The service tech came out on March 4, 2010.  He informed me that once leather starts to tear and rip it only gets worse.  But the good news was that they could fix it with a new piece of leather.  I had to pay $61.98 for the piece, but I thought that was better than a new couch.  He said he would order the piece and get back with me in the next couple of weeks.

Well, March turned to April and April turned to May so I called RC Willey's customer service.  The rep wasn't sure what was taking so long and said she'd call me back.  I never heard back from anyone.  So, May turned to June and I called customer service again.  Again, the rep wasn't sure what the hold up was and said she'd call me back.  I never heard back from anyone again.  In July I called customer service yet again.  This time the rep said, "Hmm, it looks like that company went out of business so we won't be able to get the leather to fix your couch."  She pretty much told me I was out of luck.  I nearly lost my mind.  It had been 4 months since the tech came out to evaluate my couch and now it can't be fixed!

I called Marva, the head of customer service again.  She was out of town but her message said she'd return messages within a weeks time.  I didn't expect to hear from her for at least a week.  Then my phone rang this morning and it was Marva.  She so kindly informed me again that I was out of luck and there was nothing they could do.  After arguing with her for 30 minutes and going through the 5 stages of anger in the phone call, I told her if she wasn't going to help me with my couch then she was wasting my time and I hung up.  My biggest issue is why couldn't someone let me know before 4 months had passed and I had to call in each time to see what the status was.  RC Willey never called me ONCE.

SO, here I am stuck with a ripping couch that can't be fixed and it isn't even 2 years old.  My advice to all of my blog friends and family would be to steer clear of RC Willey and their empty promises.  I will never buy anything from there again!  EVER!!

The call from Marva this morning is what put me behind schedule and ruined my morning, ugh.

But we eventually made it to the park for our play date and made the best of the rest of our morning.  We had a good time chatting and playing with friends.

Jake thinks he's a big boy and would climb the stairs to follow the kids.
My little stink bug :)
Ryan playing in the dirt.
He was using a stick to make letters.
I know the picture is over exposed but I didn't take very many pictures and I wanted to post what I had.  Only Kathryn and her kids, Meagan and her kids, Jessica Woodland and her kids and me and my kids were there to play.
The kiddos playing--except I don't know who the kid in the white shirt in the middle of the circle is.  It's just some random kid :)

After playing at the park, I called my mom to see what she was doing for lunch.  She didn't have any plans so I picked up some Wendy's for us and we went and had lunch in Levan with Grandma and Grandpa.  We stayed and played in Levan for a few hours but we had to get back to Spanish Fork by 4pm to drop Jake off with Jim so I could take Ryan to his follow up appointment with Dr. Peterson.

We made it to our appointment right on time.  Everything looks great with Ryan and his lungs sounded fabulous.  Dr. Peterson said we'll probably have to keep Ryan on his inhaled steroid for at least a year.  But he's getting better at taking his puffs in the morning and at night.

It was so nice to go and see Kathryn.  I haven't seen her in a long time.  Thanks for inviting us down to play Kith!

Flying Scissors

My mom came up today to go to the Verizon store.  Her cell phone died on her so she needed to get a new one.  If you've ever been without your cell phone you know how fast you want to get to the Verizon store :)  Turns out, her battery was just not on the phone properly.  Weird, I know.  So they got her phone all situated, shipped her a new battery just in case, and we were on our way.

I also needed to run to Lowe's to pick out lights for our basement.  Chris is coming this week sometime to hang lights and we haven't purchased them yet.  I knew I couldn't go and pick out lights by myself with my two hooligans so I asked my mom if she wanted to come up and we'd go and get her phone fixed, too.

After we ran our errands, we stopped by the Flying Scissors Salon in Spanish Fork to get my boys' hair cuts. We have Jake's 1 year pics this Thursday so I wanted them to have fresh hair cuts :)  Both boys did really well with their hair cuts.  They sat so good.  Ryan even climbed right up in the chair--no questions asked so we went and got them an ice cream cone afterwards.  The ice cream cone wasn't all that it was cracked up to be for Ryan though.  He took one bite and he didn't want anymore.  He kept asking for his ice cream cone.  I guess he thought it would be something more :)

Ryan getting his locks trimmed up.
He was really good for his hair cut.
Grandma chased Jake around and kept him busy for me while I was with Ryan.
The finished product.
Then it was Jake's turn and he was a little more hesitant to get in the chair.
He wasn't so sure about the clippers and all of the noise they make.
He sat in the chair pretty good, for the most part.  Things could have been alot worse.
Jakey getting his hair styled.
And the finished product.  Too cute!

There is nothing better than a nice, short hair cut!  I love the way boys' hair looks when it is first cut--I wish it would stay that way :)
