Bridal Veil Falls, Old McDonald's, Home Depot, and a Bike Ride

We had an extra fun day today :)  I went to my favorite step class at the gym this morning with my sister Molly, who is also my new neighbor!  Scott and Molly bought the house right next door and have been all moved in for about 2 weeks now.

When I got home from the gym, we got the boys dressed and I showered and got cleaned up a bit then we headed to Bridal Veil Falls.  The boys loved it the last time we went and we wanted to do something fun with them today so that's where we decided to go :)

Of course, the boys fell asleep on the way there.  Jake got up right after I left for the gym, which was at 6:45am.  Not sure why he thought he had to get up so early, but he did so he needed an early nap.
Ryan fell asleep shortly after I took this picture.  He decided to get up early this Saturday morning as well.

We got to Bridal Veil Falls and there were 2 police trucks and an ambulance there.  We never found out what the deal was, but it must not have been an emergency because the ambulance wasn't in any kind of hurry to get down the canyon.

There were a lot of people at the falls today.  Probably because its a Saturday and the summer is winding down.  But we managed to have some fun anyway.  The water was really cold and the weather was a bit cooler than the last time we were at the falls so we were all a little hesitant to get in the water.  Ry was the first to get in and it didn't seem to bother him much :)
Jim and Jake waiting to get in the water.
Jake decided to take the log "bridge" over the water.
Ryan wanted to explore a bit so Jim went with him.  Jake and I were right behind him, but the water was too cold on Jake's feet so we went back.
The boys had fun throwing rocks in the water.
Jake thought he was a big boy and could walk from one side of the water to the other all by himself.

Jake's shorts were getting wet so Jim rolled them up like Daisy Dukes :)

When we were done in the water, we decided to go on a little adventure.  We walked down the path and checked out all of the rocks, trees, etc.
Jake liked standing on this tree stump.
They had fun finding sticks in the trees and just playing with each other.

There were some people sitting on the grass having a picnic so Ryan asked if we could have a picnic.  We told him we didn't have any food packed, but that we could go and grab a bite to eat some where.  So we headed back to the truck and made our way down the canyon.

We asked Ryan where he wanted to get some lunch.  He insisted we eat at "Old McDonad's" (I left the "l" out on purpose--that's how Ryan says McDonald, ha ha).  McDonald's isn't my favorite place to eat so we tried talking him into Carl's Jr.  But, Ry had his mind set on Old McDonad's so that is where we went.
The boys ate their lunch and had tons of fun playing on the play ground.  They were fascinated with the Ronald McDonald figure that was sitting on the bench.
Ronald's face is well used--you can tell lots of little hands have rubbed and touched it, just like Jake is doing :) The little boy in the left of the picture liked playing with Ryan and Jake; he is right in the middle of my boys age wise.  I felt bad for the little guy though--he was playing on the bench by Ronald and his foot got caught up when he was getting off the bench and he smacked his face on the hard floor.  His nose was bleeding and it was all swollen.  I'm sure he'll have a couple of black eyes :(
Jake was brave and dared go up in this play land and would even go down the slide.

We left McDonald's after letting the boys play for an hour or so and we headed to Home Depot.  We had a few items to get including some tile stripper.  It was just a year ago that  I spent 3 days cleaning the kitchen floor with my mom's Sgt. Steam and now the seal is wearing off and looks terrible so we have to strip it off.  This time around we're only going to seal the grout--live and learn, right.

The boys fell asleep on the way home from Home Depot.  I was hoping we could get them out of their car seats and let them have a little nap on the couch.  Ryan cooperated, but Jake had other plans.  He refused to go back to sleep after I got him out of his car seat.  His freaking out woke Ryan up, ugh.  So, they helped Jim fix his bike tire while I picked up a few things around the house.

The boys stayed outside and played after they helped Jim with his bike.  A few minutes later, I heard Jake outside screaming.  It wasn't screaming like "Ryan is bugging me" screaming. It was a "I'm hurt" scream.  I ran outside and Jake was surrounded by wasps!  I yelled at Jim to come help and Jake was getting stung by wasps--I'm pretty sure I over reacted just a bit.  It freaked me out though.

I got Jake away from the wasps.  He kept saying, "Fath (face) hurt mom! Those waps (wasps) get me!"  He had been bit twice on the face and twice on his hand.  I got bit by a wasp last year and it hurts so I knew it was hurting.

I took Jake inside and put a cold washcloth on his bites.
Jake with his wasp bites.  He was shaking and upset.
A closer picture of his bites.
And the bites on his hand.

We gave him some Tylenol and he was good to go.  He was a little hesitant to go back outside though.
Jim sprayed the wasps so hopefully they won't be a problem any more.  Funny thing is, we had a pest control company come and spray our house this Spring for this type of thing.

We made dinner for the boys (Jim and I weren't that hungry for some reason) and then went on a bike ride.

The boys in the bike trailer.  Jake was too busy getting his straw in his Capri Sun :)

The sky was a bit gray but I didn't think it was going to rain.  Well, it did.  We stopped at the park to let the boys play and it started to thunder.  When it started lightening, we decided it was time to head for home; then the rain started.  This is the second bike ride we've been on where we've got rained on!  It has been crazy weather this year!

I love days like today--we had so much fun together!

Jackson's American Legion Baseball Game

My nephew Jackson has been playing in a summer baseball league and they are in the finals.  The team won their game yesterday so we decided to head up to Taylorsville and watch the team play today.

My mom wanted to ride up to the game so she got to my house around 2.  Jim got off work a bit early and was home by 2:15pm and we left for the game around 2:30pm.  The game was at Kearns High School.  They have an AMAZING baseball field.  I thought we were going to be sitting in the hot sun, sweating to death.  Nope--this field has covered, stadium seating!  We were in the shade the entire game.  It was fabulous.

We took the boys' Utes baseball hats for them to wear to keep the sun out of their eyes and they ended up not needing them.  They liked to wear them though because Hayden and Keaton were wearing baseball hats, too.

Ryan and Jake also loved climbing on the railing.  I tried to make sure they weren't ever in front of anyone, but I'm sure they bugged people with all their running around and screaming.

Jack played a great game.  He had a couple of hits that almost made it over the fence--they were seriously so close.

From L to R, clockwise:  Jack with his team while the National Anthem was playing, up to bat for the first time in this game, he hit the ball but it ended up being foul, and he made it to 2nd base--woot, woot!

Jackson's friend, Jenny (aka Jennay) came to watch Jack play.  She kept Keaton entertained for a while, too.
Hayden watching the game.  He is such a good kid--all of the Roper boys are really good kids.
Jake and Ryan were all over the place.  They would climb on the seats and run around.  Sometimes they would get caught in the seats like the above picture shows.  I would have loved to keep the boys "caught" in the chairs, but they would scream so I had to get them out :)
Eventually, I had to take my boys to sit on the grassy hill.  They were driving me nutso with all their running around so I'm sure everyone else in the crowd was tired of them, too.  We got some good pics of Jack hitting the ball.
Jake and Ryan had loads of fun playing on this hill.  I was sure one of them would roll down the hill and fly onto the field.  Luckily, it never happened.  And neither of them got hurt playing on the steep hill either.  Ryan was so funny--he loved that his shadow was so big and he would say he was a giant.  I was dying laughing.
For some reason, Ryan decided to put himself in time out.  I've never used the time out method with my boys so I have no idea where he got this from.  It makes me laugh though.  He was really mad when I took this picture of him, too.  He came down the hill and said, "Don't take my cheese when I'm having a time out!"  It was hilarious!
The whole game Taylorsville was ahead 8-2.  But Stansbury Park crept up on them and eventually the score was tied.  Luckily, Taylorsville pulled off the win!
Jack getting ready to run for home plate.
He scores!  Taylorsville ended up winning!!
Jake was silly while playing on the hill.  He kept giving me the cutest smiles :)
Jackson with his friend, Connor.  I wanted to take a picture of them and Connor did that goofy pose.  I told them to be normal and the second picture is what I got.

After the game, we went to Noodles & Company for dinner with the Roper's and then headed for home.

I'm glad we were able to make it to see Jack play baseball this summer.  Even better, I'm glad they won!
Go Taylorsville Warriors!

SO Sleepy!

Jake is either having a growth spurt or just trying to get caught up on his zzz's.  Yesterday, he fell asleep on the couch while I was vacuuming.  Today, he fell asleep watching t.v. with his head resting on Ryan's shoulder.  Both times he fell asleep well before he usually takes his nap, which was kind of frustrating.  But, it made for some cute pictures :)

I took a couple of pictures and Ry started to get mad!  He told me to stop taking his cheese (which means to stop taking pictures of him, lol!)  You can tell by his face in the 2nd picture that he was done with me and my camera.

After taking pics, I took Jake up to his crib where he slept for 2 1/2 hours!  He was one tired boy!!

Fiesta Days {2011}

We had tons of fun today.  We started the day out by going to the Fiesta Days Grand Parade.  Jim was going to drive an Army truck through the parade.  He got to the armory and his co-workers had everything taken care so he called and said he was coming home.  I had help with my boys at the parade, yay!.  We left the house around 8:20am and decided to get the boys some breakfast at McDonald's.  Well, McDonald's was slammed so we drove down to Burger King instead.

Lacy and I had put blankets out last night to save us a spot for the parade so we weren't really pressed for time to find a spot, but it always makes me nervous to be running late.  We hurried to get to where our blankets were and they were fine--our spot was still there.

It was a bit cloudy and cool when we got to the parade, but it actually made it really nice to watch the parade.  We weren't too hot and not too cold either.

The boys waiting for the parade to start.
Not the best picture, but I love Jake's face in it :)
Molly's drill team was in the parade.  They had got water in their amplifier so there wasn't any music playing when they went by us so we didn't really get to see them perform :(
Another shot of the Elleves on the truck.
The Fiesta Days parade is always way long--over 100 entries!  My boys got a little bored and went and played on the rocks behind where we were sitting.  I don't think the home owners were super happy with them playing on their rocks, but I couldn't get them off and it was keeping the boys happy so what do ya do :)

Jake and Kam on the rocks.
They banned parade entrants from throwing candy in the parade.  I guess people got hit with candy last year and were seriously hurt so they don't allow candy anymore.  They have tons of people that walk the parade route selling candy now.  We bought a fun dip for the boys to eat while they watched the parade.  Ryan's turned his mouth blue/green :)
Jake waving at a float going by.

After the parade, we went home to unload the car then we were going to hit up the carnival while it wasn't too hot.  Jake fell asleep on the way home so we decided to let him take his nap and then go to the carnival.  Jake woke up around 12 noon so we made them some lunch and then headed to the carny.

I pre-bought our carnival tickets at the Spanish Fork City offices this year.  For $18 you got 40 tickets.  I thought that would be oodles of tickets.  Well, the kiddie rides take 3 tickets each the boys were able to ride 6 rides each.  It was so ridiculously hot, we were more than happy that we didn't have more tickets to get rid of :)
Ryan insisted on riding the boats!  We didn't get to ride these last year because the line was way too long.  It was kind of a dumb ride, too.  You just got around in a circle, the boats don't even make any kind of noises, and the boats were kind of grubby and dirty.  Oh well, the boys had fun.
The next ride were the pirate boats.
Then we rode the motorcycles.  Notice Ryan is on an orange motorcycle...
The motorcycles must be made for older kids though, even though its a kiddie ride.  Doesn't Jake look so uncomfortable sitting on the motorcycle?  The handles are so wide and he has to hunch over to reach them.
Funny thing, while we were waiting to get on this ride I asked Ryan what color of motorcycle he was going to pick.  Of course he said green, his favorite color.  Well, when it was time to get on a motorcycle he got on an orange bike.  Mid-ride he started freaking out because he wanted to be on a green motorcycle.  Thank goodness the carny worker was nice and it wasn't busy.  The carny stopped the ride so Ryan could get on a green motorcycle!  In the first motorcycle picture, Ryan is on an orange motorcycle.  In this picture, he is on a green bike :)
We rode the cars and motorcycle ride next.  Ryan picked a car to ride in first and Jake picked another motorcycle.  We actually rode this ride twice per the boys' request.  Jake stayed on the motorcycle and Ryan joined him :)
Then the boys rode the roller coaster. Notice their pink cheeks--it was SO hot!
Ryan loves the roller coaster rides!
Our last ride was the rocket ships.  I think they were hot and done with the carnival at this point--they weren't too impressed with the ride.

After we had used all of our tickets, we headed over to the park to find a snack.  We got the boys a snow cone, Jim got a pulled pork sandwich and a Texas twister drink, and I got a funnel cake.  Ryan was dying to go play on the playground so we headed to play after we ate our treats.
Ryan and Jake had fun playing.
It was so hot though.  I told Ryan we would go home and play on the slip n' slide if we could go home :)

Ryan fell asleep minutes after we got in the car to go home.  He was exhausted and didn't wake up in the least when I got him out of his car seat.  I took him up to his bed to let him nap there.  He slept for a couple of hours!  I swear the heat is so exhausting.  But when Ry woke up he remembered we were supposed to play on the slip n' slide.

The boys played on the slip n' slide and had a blast!  They got a little sunburned at the carnival, even though I had put sunscreen on them so they had to wear their rash guards to play outside.  I didn't want them getting even more sunburned.

We ate dinner after they were done playing.  We decided to go on a bike ride after dinner.  The sky was getting grey but it wasn't windy.  Well, in the middle of our bike ride it started to pour rain!  It kind of hurt when the rain drops would hit our skin, too.  We cut our bike ride short and made a bee line home!  Earlier in the day we were sweating to death and we ended the day getting rained on.

We had a really fun day!  I'm glad we were able to do such fun things together as a family :)
