We took the boys to the circus today at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake. We got a good deal on tickets through the National Guard so we decided to take the boys. I don't think I've ever been to the circus so I kind of wanted to go, too.
The circus started at 11am so we left Spanish Fork around 9am. My mom came to the circus with us--I asked all of my siblings if they wanted to go, too, but my mom was the only one who wanted to go :)
Leaving the house at 9am is quite the feat at my house. We usually have to skip something in order to make it happen--today it was breakfast. So we stopped at McDonald's on our way out of town :)
I thought the boys would sleep on the way up to Salt Lake, but I think it was too early for naps since they had just barely woke up so they stayed awake the whole ride. They were so ready to get out of the car after the 1 1/2 hour ride.
On the way into the circus some dude gave my mom a pamphlet. He was an animal rights activist and the pamphlet said something like "the circus isn't fun for the animals." We just laughed and threw it away.
We finally made it to our seats around 10:45am so we got to watch some of the pre-show. It really wasn't a pre-show I guess--they just had some of the performers on the floor that you could go and get autographs from.
Jake waiting for the circus to start.
Ryan was soaking it all in--he wasn't quite sure where we were or what was going on.
Watching the pre-show performers.
Jakey was clapping :)
Seriously, he is a little turkey--love him though.
Finally, the lights went down and the circus started.
Jim and I excited for the circus to start--can't you tell Jim is SO excited by the look on his face :)
The show started with the Ringmaster on the circus train with his midget sidekick, Nano.
The elephants all dressed up.
The tigers were pretty cool. Except my mom and I both thought they looked old and tired :) I guess that animal rights activist was right, ha ha.
Ryan and Mongma watching the show. Ryan kept telling my mom that he was "ready to go home" Hmm, I think he has a bit of Mangelson in him.
The tight rope walkers--the girl is standing on the guys head at they walk across the rope!!
During the elephant show, one of the elephants crapped all over the floor. The circus help had obviously dealt with cleaning up large piles of crap before. They used giant shovels and had it cleaned up and out of the way in no time. My mom and I watched them clean up the poo rather than watching the show :) It was pretty intriguing.
The newest member of the circus family! I can't remember the baby elephant's name but it was born in January 2009 and already knew some tricks.
This dare devil rode a motorcycle on a thin wire with a girl hanging from it. It was pretty amazing.
The motorcycle was a little loud for Ryan :)
These guys did a trampoline jump routine. It was fun to watch.
The circus was really fun. All of the acts were amazing--I always wonder how people get in the circus. I can't imagine wanting to be in the circus, weird. Anyway, I'm glad we were able to go; however, I don't think we need to go again next year :)
Both of the boys were WAY tired on the way to the car. They were both asleep before we had even got on the freeway to go home. For some reason, Jake woke up around Lehi and wouldn't go back to sleep even though he was sooo tired. Ryan slept the whole way home.
We didn't want to wake the boys up to stop and get a bite to eat so we decided to just have leftovers at home for lunch. We had a quick bite to eat, and then my mom and I went with Molly to visit Kendrick again. Today is actually Kendrick's due date.
Kendrick is still on the CPAP. They had tried to take him off the ventilator today. He was off of it for about 2 1/2 hours, but then he started to really work to breathe so they put him back on the CPAP.
Kendrick had been pretty fussy all day so when Molly showed up, the nurse asked if Molly wanted to hold him! We were all way excited for Molly--she hasn't really got to hold Kendrick since he went into the NICU 6 days ago. It was so fun to watch Molly hold her baby boy.
Kendrick immediately calmed down when Molly held him. It was really fun to be there to watch her hold the baby.
He kept trying to open his eyes, too. The CPAP made it difficult though :(
You can tell by Molly's face that she was in heaven holding her sweet baby. Poor Scott was at the BYU game helping the drill team girls work their concession stand so he wasn't there to hold the babes.
If you look close, you can see Kendrick is holding Molly's finger. He kept doing this and seemed to be comforted by it.
Mom, Molly, and Kendrick.
Kendrick really loved being held--he slept so good when he was in his mommas arms.
Shift change is at 6pm so the nurse had Molly put Kendrick down around 5:30pm. As you can see, Kendrick was not happy about it. It made me feel so bad :(
Molly tried comforting him.
She got to change his diaper. He had been grunting while Molly was holding him and wouldn't ya know, he had a little pooper waiting for her :)
Molly got to pick up Kendrick so the nurse could switch out his blanket. Kendrick really like nice, warm blankies :)
The warm blanket and the binkie seemed to calm him down.
I was really glad we were able to go with Molly and visit Kendrick. It was really fun to be there to watch her hold her baby for the first time since Sunday.
After we dropped Molly off, my mom and I went to Macey's to get a few groceries. We had dropped my car off there before we went to visit Kendrick. So after we were finished, I got in my car and went home and mom made her way to Levan.
