Ryan's Dentist Appointment

I took Ryan to his dentist check-up today. I'm not sure if it is super necessary but I still take him to him 6 month appointments.  I tried to talk the dentist up to Ryan telling him a few days before that we would be going to see the dentist and he would tickle his teeth.  Ry obviously didn't understand what I'd been telling him though because it was the same story as soon as we got to Dr. Sorenson's office.

Ry saw the train table and immediately started playing with it. The problem was he didn't get to play long enough so he was ticked when we had to go back to the exam room. He REFUSED to sit still for any x-rays so we went right to the exam chair. Ryan bawled and carried on. The only good thing was since he was crying, his mouth was wide open.  I guess he did do a bit better than the last two visits to the dentist, but he still wasn't very good either :)  Ry even brushed the horse with the giant teeth to help calm him down.  He thought it was pretty cool to get to brush someone else's teeth.

The dentist said Ryan had all of his baby teeth in and that Ryan had really good spaced out teeth so we shouldn't have to worry about flossing just yet, which is a good thing because we sure don't :)  The dental assistant had already cleaned and painted the fluoride on Ry's teeth so after we finished with the dentist we got our bag of goods and headed out to ride the horse.

On the way out Ry had to stop and play with the train table again.  Seriously, who wants to stay at the dentist longer than they have to!?!  SO I let him play for a bit (probably more like 30 seconds) and then we left.
Ry thought the horse was pretty fun.  This is the face he pulls when he likes something but doesn't really want to show it :)

I think my favorite part of the dentist is getting to watch Ryan ride the horse.  It truly is a treat :)  I also loved that Ryan's appointment was at 11am and we were on our way home at 11:20am.  It was fantastic!

My mom had came up and sat with Jake while I took Ryan to the dentist.  Ryan and I stopped at the grocery store after his appointment and then we got some lunch and took it back to our house to eat.  My mom then had an appointment to meet with Social Security at 1pm so after lunch she made her way north.  Thanks Mom!

Ry goes back in March for his next 6 month check up.  Hopefully he continue to get better, even if it is just a tiny bit, at each appointment.

The Circus and Another Visit with Kendrick

We took the boys to the circus today at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake.  We got a good deal on tickets through the National Guard so we decided to take the boys.  I don't think I've ever been to the circus so I kind of wanted to go, too.

The circus started at 11am so we left Spanish Fork around 9am.  My mom came to the circus with us--I asked all of my siblings if they wanted to go, too, but my mom was the only one who wanted to go :)

Leaving the house at 9am is quite the feat at my house.  We usually have to skip something in order to make it happen--today it was breakfast.  So we stopped at McDonald's on our way out of town :)

I thought the boys would sleep on the way up to Salt Lake, but I think it was too early for naps since they had just barely woke up so they stayed awake the whole ride.  They were so ready to get out of the car after the 1 1/2 hour ride.

On the way into the circus some dude gave my mom a pamphlet.  He was an animal rights activist and the pamphlet said something like "the circus isn't fun for the animals."  We just laughed and threw it away.

We finally made it to our seats around 10:45am so we got to watch some of the pre-show.  It really wasn't a pre-show I guess--they just had some of the performers on the floor that you could go and get autographs from.
Jake waiting for the circus to start.
Ryan was soaking it all in--he wasn't quite sure where we were or what was going on.
Watching the pre-show performers.
Jakey was clapping :)
Seriously, he is a little turkey--love him though.
Finally, the lights went down and the circus started.
Jim and I excited for the circus to start--can't you tell Jim is SO excited by the look on his face :)
The show started with the Ringmaster on the circus train with his midget sidekick, Nano.
The elephants all dressed up.
The tigers were pretty cool.  Except my mom and I both thought they looked old and tired :)  I guess that animal rights activist was right, ha ha.
Ryan and Mongma watching the show.  Ryan kept telling my mom that he was "ready to go home"  Hmm, I think he has a bit of Mangelson in him.
The tight rope walkers--the girl is standing on the guys head at they walk across the rope!!
During the elephant show, one of the elephants crapped all over the floor.  The circus help had obviously dealt with cleaning up large piles of crap before.  They used giant shovels and had it cleaned up and out of the way in no time.  My mom and I watched them clean up the poo rather than watching the show :)   It was pretty intriguing.
The newest member of the circus family!  I can't remember the baby elephant's name but it was born in January 2009 and already knew some tricks.
This dare devil rode a motorcycle on a thin wire with a girl hanging from it.  It was pretty amazing.
The motorcycle was a little loud for Ryan :)
These guys did a trampoline jump routine.  It was fun to watch.

The circus was really fun.  All of the acts were amazing--I always wonder how people get in the circus.  I can't imagine wanting to be in the circus, weird.  Anyway, I'm glad we were able to go; however, I don't think we need to go again next year :)

Both of the boys were WAY tired on the way to the car.  They were both asleep before we had even got on the freeway to go home.  For some reason, Jake woke up around Lehi and wouldn't go back to sleep even though he was sooo tired.  Ryan slept the whole way home.

We didn't want to wake the boys up to stop and get a bite to eat so we decided to just have leftovers at home for lunch.  We had a quick bite to eat, and then my mom and I went with Molly to visit Kendrick again.  Today is actually Kendrick's due date.

Kendrick is still on the CPAP.  They had tried to take him off the ventilator today.  He was off of it for about 2 1/2 hours, but then he started to really work to breathe so they put him back on the CPAP.
Kendrick had been pretty fussy all day so when Molly showed up, the nurse asked if Molly wanted to hold him!  We were all way excited for Molly--she hasn't really got to hold Kendrick since he went into the NICU 6 days ago.  It was so fun to watch Molly hold her baby boy.
Kendrick immediately calmed down when Molly held him.  It was really fun to be there to watch her hold the baby.
He kept trying to open his eyes, too.  The CPAP made it difficult though :(
You can tell by Molly's face that she was in heaven holding her sweet baby.  Poor Scott was at the BYU game helping the drill team girls work their concession stand so he wasn't there to hold the babes.
If you look close, you can see Kendrick is holding Molly's finger.  He kept doing this and seemed to be comforted by it.
Mom, Molly, and Kendrick.
Kendrick really loved being held--he slept so good when he was in his mommas arms.
Shift change is at 6pm so the nurse had Molly put Kendrick down around 5:30pm.  As you can see, Kendrick was not happy about it.  It made me feel so bad :(
Molly tried comforting him.
She got to change his diaper.  He had been grunting while Molly was holding him and wouldn't ya know, he had a little pooper waiting for her :)
Molly got to pick up Kendrick so the nurse could switch out his blanket.  Kendrick really like nice, warm blankies :)
The warm blanket and the binkie seemed to calm him down.

I was really glad we were able to go with Molly and visit Kendrick.  It was really fun to be there to watch her hold her baby for the first time since Sunday.

After we dropped Molly off, my mom and I went to Macey's to get a few groceries.  We had dropped my car off there before we went to visit Kendrick.  So after we were finished, I got in my car and went home and mom made her way to Levan.

Congrats Kristy & Jeff!

My mom called today around 10:20am to see if I would be able to go to lunch and then go visit Kendrick with her, Molly, Amy, and Paula--Emilee wasn't able to come up :(  She said she would pick me up at 11:30am.  Jim had the day off so I jumped in the shower and hustled to get ready.  I desperately needed to wash my hair as it reeked of salsa from yesterday and sweat--I just got home from the gym.  Luckily I was able to get completely ready in 1 hour!

My mom picked me up and then we went and picked up Molly.  We decided to go and eat at Rooster's Noodle and Dumpling Bar in Provo since we'd never been there before.

We looked at the menu when we first got to Rooster's and were a little nervous about eating there, but we decided to give it a try.  We ordered two orders of dumplings and two sandwiches and we shared them between the four of us.  Amy showed up a bit later after getting her hair cut and colored.

I think it was unanimous that we don't need to go back to Rooster's any time soon--it was just ok.  The dumplings were fine, the sandwich was icky, but I actually really liked the spinach salad that came with the sandwich.  It had craisins, candied walnuts, and I think cotija cheese on it.  It was pretty tasty.

Paula had to be to her hair appointment at 1:45pm so she had to leave from Rooster's to make it to her appointment.  My mom, Molly, Amy, and I went to the hospital to see Kendrick.
Kendrick is now on a CPAP machine to help him breathe.  Although the CPAP is an improvement, as far as ventilators go, it looks a bit more intimidating than his last ventilator.  They are slowly taking Kendrick off of his sedation meds.  That is why the nurse had the blanket over his arms--he does not like the CPAP so he tries to get it off :)

Kendrick still has pneumonia in his right lung, but he seems to be improving every day.  I hope he continues to get better so he can come home soon!

Me with baby Kendrick.

After we left the hospital, my mom had to run a few errands.  Then we headed back to Spanish Fork so I could start getting ready to go to Kristy and Jeff's wedding reception.

Mckell came to our house to watch the boys for us.  I didn't think Ryan and Jake would like to ride to West Valley to go to the reception and then turn around and make the drive home.  Both my boys love Mckell--she was so kind to come and watch them for me even though she is super busy making wedding plans of her own :)

Jim and I left Spanish Fork a little later than we wanted.  We got on the road around 5:15pm and were supposed to meet Annie and Cory at the park and ride in Lehi at 5:30pm.  I called Annie to let her know we were running late.  Then hit traffic, ugh.  There was an accident in Pleasant Grove so traffic was backed up all the way to Springville!!  We didn't get to the park and ride until 6:20pm!!  I'm sure Annie and Cory wanted to kill us.

We got in Annie and Cory's car and got on our way to the wedding reception.  We were near 90th South when Annie asked to see our wedding gift.  Holy cow!!  I left it in my car in Lehi!!  We were already running late so we decided we'd get the gift to Kristy later--another excuse to get together, right :)

We made it to the reception a little after 7pm.  It was at Kristy's parents house in their backyard.  The house and yard looked great--looked like they've been working hard :)

Jeff & Kristy

They actually get married tomorrow at the Draper Temple.  Kristy decided not to wear her wedding dress to the reception.  I was a little bummed that I wouldn't get to see her in her wedding dress, but she looked great!
One of Kristy's bridals.  I LOVED all of her pictures.  Her photographer did an excellent job.
Part of Kristy's parents back yard.  It looked amazing.
Another pic of me and Annie.  Jim and Cory were beyond bugged at this point with all of our picture taking.

We decided to leave the reception and go and grab a bite to eat before I needed to get home to my boys.  I texted Mckell to make sure everything was ok.  Of course she said things were fine.

We went and got dinner at The Pie in South Jordan.  I LOVE The Pie--mmm, cheese pull-a-parts and a chef salad, delish!!  After we grubbed our dinner, we headed back to Lehi to pick up our car.

Mckell texted me and said Jake would not go to sleep for her :(  Both boys were awake and watching Cars when we got home.  Mckell said she tried to get Jake to go to sleep but he would cry and it made her feel bad, ha ha.  I used to NEVER let Ryan "cry it out" but we definitely let Jake do it.  But I can understand why she didn't want him to cry.  I'm just glad she was able to watch the boys for us and everything went well.

Congratulations to Kristy and Jeff!
We are so happy for the two of you :)
