Fabulous Things Ryan did this Week :)

All in one week, Ryan:

  • Peed off the balcony
  • Poured water out of the tub
  • Grabbed himself while I was changing a poopy diaper so he got poop all over his hand

Oh the joys of having a little boy :)

Ryan is going to have a...

baby brother! I had my suspicions and was correct. All the sisters in my family and we all pretty much have boys! Crazy...

The due date is still on for July 12th. I went a week early with Ryan so we'll see what happens. I wouldn't mind going early--you're crazy if you want to go over :) The ultrastenographer was having a hard time getting all of the measurements he needed because the baby would curl up in a ball and wiggle all over. He kept saying, "This baby is wild!" Watch him be right and I'll have a rambunctious 16 month old and a "wild" newborn. All of the measurements were great and he had all of the heart chambers, kidneys, working bladder, arms, legs, hands, etc. that he should, which is always a relief. He didn't have any signs of a cleft palette, down syndrome, spina bifida (not sure on the spelling, but you get what I'm saying), and all of the other stuff they look for either.

In a mere 4 months, I'll have two kiddos to care for....scary thought. Anyway, here are a few of the ultrasound pics of our baby boy.

P.S. The guy that did the ultrasound today also did Ryan's ultrasound. He also said that Ryan had "dad's big nose." I was freaking out--I kept thinking 'Does Jim have a big nose??' but I guess he tells that to everyone to be funny. Again he said that this baby has "dad's big nose" :)

Celine Dion

It's been over a year but my friends and I were finally able to attend the Celine Dion concert. I have to admit, I'm not Celine's biggest fan--I initially decided to get a ticket for a night out with my friends. BUT, after attending her concert I guess I'm a bigger fan than I thought. I knew 98% of the songs she sang and I even knew her new songs thanks to my mom. She bought Celine's new CD for me for Christmas last year :)

Celine really was awesome live and put on a great show. Most artists don't sound the best live, but Celine sounded just like she does on her CD's, seriously. She truly is very talented. I think it was really good of her to apologize for cancelling the original concert date of November 22nd. It would have worked out so much better for us to have it in Nov--it was on a Friday night, not a Sunday. BUT, things happened so she rescheduled. However, she sounded truly sincere in her apology.

I wish we would have got a picture of the girls that sat behind us. I'm pretty sure they are Celine's biggest fans. They would scream and sing every song and comment constantly on how cute Celine was. We thought they should have spent a little more for their tickets though :) BTW, we were on the second to the top row, haha. So the "biggest fans" were on the very top row of the Energy Solutions Arena :)

Before the concert we went out to eat at Tepanyaki in Lehi. The food was really good as well as the entertainment while the chef's cooked our food :)
Me, Patty Jones (Alisha's mom), Alisha, Marci, and Lisa (Marci's mom and my aunt) are on the front row. Leslee and Lynsey are on the back row.

We really had a good time at the concert. It's fun to catch up with my friends--we always seem to have good times and great conversations.

All of us after the concert. Meagan, Lisa, and Marci on the front row. Me, Leslee, Lynsey, Casey, Alisha, and Patty on the back row.

Drill Weekends

When my brother-in-law Jason used to go to Cedar City for drill once a month, Amy would always say that something would go wrong that particular weekend when he wasn't home. It didn't matter what, but someone (or everyone) would get sick or something would go wrong in the house. Well, that's starting to happen with us.

Last month's drill, Ryan got sick. Jim had to leave drill so he could help me take Ryan to Instacare. We found out he had mild RSV and was pretty sick for about 2 weeks. NOW, this month, I go and get Ryan from his crib this morning and he has puked everywhere. I'm supposed to go to the Celine Dion concert tonight so I'm hoping he's not sick and was just way full and puked.

It seems when he eats alot of solid foods, he'll puke in the night. It's happened once before--Ryan wouldn't eat his baby food at dinner so we gave him alot of what we were having for dinner and he puked in the night. Luckily he cried so we went in to see what was wrong so we were able to get him and his crib cleaned up. Yesterday, I met my mom and sisters for dinner at Gloria's Little Italy. Again, he wouldn't eat his baby food and had to have our food. This morning, I woke up to puke. But, he didn't cry in the night so I didn't find it until this morning. Poor guy slept in it all night :( He's acted fine all day though, just the normal orneriness from teething. My mom's supposed to be here soon to watch Ry until Jim gets home from drill so I can go to the concert with my friends. I hope he'll be fine...

Expect the Unexpected

I thought I'd be posting this type of news at least a year from now, but our news came a little earlier than we expected :) Ryan is going to be a big brother, haha. We are expecting baby #2 sometime around July 12th. I'm a little nervous since the big brother isn't "so big" but I'm sure we'll manage. Hopefully this baby will be as good of a baby as Ryan was. My sister Paula has two boys that are 18 months apart and then she had twins. She told me that sometimes her boys were harder than her twins, aghh.

I'm also struggling with the thought of having to buy another crib. We'll put the new baby in a bassinet for a 3-4 months and by that time Ryan will be 20 months. But I still don't think he'd be ready to transition into a big boy bed. I guess it depends on if he is climbing out of his crib by then... So if anyone has any input, let me know.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know our big news :) We actually find out what we are having on Wednesday so I'll post after we know (both times the doctor has listened to the heartbeat he said he would guess it's a boy, which is fine. Ryan will have a little playmate either way).

P.S. If anyone wants to come and live with us say mid-July, I wouldn't mind at all. I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get.

P.P.S My friend Jessica asked how far apart Ryan and the baby will be. They will be 16 months apart, yikes :)

Top Teeth, Finally

Ryan's top teeth are finally coming in. I know this not because I saw them, but I heard him grinding his top and bottom teeth together at breakfast. It was a terrible noise. Brought back memories of when I shared a room with Annalisa. She has a terrible habit of grinding her teeth in her sleep so loud that it would wake me up. Sick.

Anyway, while Ryan was in the tub playing (I was sitting right next to the tub, just so you know) I texted Jim to tell him that Ryan's top teeth had finally started to emerge. Ryan loves to play with my phone and was ticked when I wouldn't give it to him in the tub to play with. He now throws really good hissy fits. While in the tub he tried to throw one of these hissy fits and went to lay in the tub face down when he got a mouth full of water. He popped right back up with bubbles all over his face, gasping for air. I had to laugh--it was seriously hilarious. He really showed me :) He started laughing when he saw me laughing. He is such a stinker.

It was quite nice outside today so I took Ryan out on the front porch to wait for Jim to come home from work. He had such a good time. He would get in the wood chips and try and eat them. He tried to eat a rock, too. I took it away from him but didn't throw it far enough away. He picked it right back up and gave it a lick. It must have tasted good if he had to give it a second taste :) I can't wait until it's warm enough to go for stroller walks and play outside again.

After dinner tonight, I was jonesing for a sweet treat. Jim made us an Oreo shake. They were pretty darn good. Ryan loved it, if you can't tell. I think it felt good on his sore teeth :)

Umm...

Having fun stirring the shake

He had to hold the spoon and put his entire arm in the cup to stir. It was easier to wash his arm and face than fight him to hold the spoon :)

He saw me drink some of the shake that was melting so he had to have a drink, too.

Happy as a clam :)

Ryan's New Language

Ryan recently found his tongue so he does this jabber where he sticks his tongue in and out. It makes me laugh. If you ask him a question he'll respond in this jibberish--it's like he really thinks he's answering us. What a funny kid.

The video I wanted to upload won't because it is too big so this will have to do :)

Here's a clip:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day was alot different this year for me than it was last year. Last year, Jim was in Iraq so my sisters surprised me with dinner, flowers, and a flat daddy of Jim! They all came to Levan to make sure I had a good Valentine's Day. It was really nice.

They rang the door bell and my mom & dad made sure I answered the door. When I opened the door, Flat daddy Jim was standing there with flowers :)

This year, we got Ryan a little Valentine's gift. I had went shopping with my mom a week or so ago to Target and she showed Ryan this crocodile xylophone toy and he loved it. I didn't buy it that day though--I was looking to get a smaller present for Valentine's. BUT, I am a procrastinator and didn't get anything so I went to Target on Tuesday with Lacy and bought the crocodile. Ryan loves it. He plays his little heart out on the xylophone. It's pretty cute.

Ryan starting to open his Valentine's present

He was alot better at opening presents now than he was at Christmas.

After he got to the actual toy, he quit taking the wrapping paper off. I had to help him a bit :)

When I went to dinner in January with my old roommates, Annie had invited Jim and me to go to The New Yorker with them for Valentine's. They had already made reservations so if we wanted to go we needed to let them know ASAP. I called my mom and she said she would watch Ryan for the evening.
On the afternoon of Valentine's Day, we headed to Levan to drop Ryan off. We had lunch with my mom and dad and hung out until 5pm. Then we headed to SLC for dinner. When we left, Ryan was tearing apart my mom's tupperware cupboard so he was happy as a clam and didn't care that we had left. My mom gave Ryan a bottle after we left and he fell asleep. When he woke up, she said he was looking for me and Jim and was kind of whining. She went and opened up my blog and was showing Ryan the videos of him climbing the stairs at our house. In the video I say Ryan's name. She said when Ryan heard me say his name in the video he looked at the doorway to see if I was there, but I wasn't so he cried. She also showed Ryan a picture of my, Jim, and Ryan from my blog and Ryan really cried when he saw that picture :( My mom also told us he really wouldn't eat his dinner, which is really strange because he's always been a good eater. I guess he really did miss us :( I'm glad he didn't cry when we left though, or I would have felt terrible the whole night.
Anyway, dinner at the New Yorker was great. If you know me well enough, you know that I am a terribly picky eater. Before going to the restaurant, I had looked up the menu to see if they had anything I would eat. There were a few things I would order from the lunch menu but we weren't sure if they would be serving anything from that menu. Annie knows a waiter at the New Yorker and he was working Valentine's night so she had requested that he wait on us that night. He had told Annie that he could talk to the chef and they may be able to make me something from the lunch menu. Well, when we got to dinner they had a special Valentine's menu for Valentine's Day and there was not one thing I would eat from that menu. Andrew, our waiter, told us the chef might be able to make me the hamburger from the lunch menu. That sounded better to me than sea bass or lamb (ok, they had steak but I don't eat steak either. I hate the texture of the meat) so he went and asked the chef if they could make a burger for me. Unfortunately they hadn't prepared any hamburger so they couldn't make one for me. Andrew asked me, "So what kind of stuff do you eat??" After thinking for a minute, I told him I would eat a chicken breast. He suggested a grilled chicken breast and vegetables. I told him that would be great. It ended up being really tasty and I was glad Andrew and the chef were so willing to work with my finicky eating :)

We stayed in Levan overnight and got up and went to church with my parents. I didn't think it was going to happen since church starts at 9am, but we actually made it and were on time. Amazing :) We spent the rest of the day in Levan. It was really nice.
This is a picture I took of Ryan after church that I had to share. He is getting to be such a big boy. I love the little guy.

Valentine's Day ended up being really great. Thanks Mom & Dad for watching Ryan so Jim and I could go out Y

Ryan's New Favorite Item to Play With :)

Ryan enjoys going in the bathroom and throwing cotton balls, wash cloths, hand towels, hair clips, and anything else he can get his little hands on out of the drawers. This is a daily occurance unless I remember to keep the bathroom door shut.

While I was putting laundry away and cleaning up a few other things, Ryan managed to get into the bathroom. I had actually shut the door, but it wasn't completely shut so he was able to push it open. After doing what I needed to do, I went into the bathroom and found Ryan like this.

Jim has a phobia of tampons, commercials related to the womanly products, and ever having to--heaven forbid--purchase the evil things. SO, when I found Ryan playing with them I had to take a picture to show Jim. Jim was disgusted with me and wanted to know why I had let him play with those things. In fact, when I started this post he about had a coronary. He said he forbid that I post these pictures. Well, I think it's pretty funny so I had to share.

I actually put the "items" away so he can't reach them anymore so we don't have any more fiascos, haha.

11 Months Old Today!

My little guy is 11 months old today. I can't believe he will be a year old next month--crazy. I can tell he is getting older. He is into everything and I truly mean everything.

As always, I like to give an update on what he is doing at this stage in his life. In addition to everything he has done in the past months, Ryan at 11 months:
  • Climbs into the tub all by himself--head first of course :) And sometimes with his pajamas on. He loves getting in the tub!

  • Is still working on getting his top 4 teeth. Poor little guy, I think I said that in his 10 month post.

  • Walks between the couch and coffee table, holding on of course. It won't be long before he is fully walking.
  • Still pulling the DVD's out of the entertainment center. Now instead of just pulling the bottome shelf off, he can reach the top shelf and loves to pull those DVD's out as well.
  • Would play in the dishwasher, pulling out all of the silverware, all day if I would let him. I pretty much have to clean the silverware before I put it into the dishwasher for this reason. He gets really irritatted when I finally decide that he has played with the spoons and forks enough :)
  • Can growl
  • Likes to scream whenever he gets the chance

I need to start writing down what he does every month as he does it. When it comes time to blog about it, I can never think of everything he is doing :)

This picture isn't on his 11 month birthday, but it was in January so it still counts :)

William's Baptism

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go and see Jim's nephew get baptized. William is such a funny, matter of fact kid. When the Bishop's Councilor was welcoming everyone to the baptism, he looked at William and said, "You go by Will, right." Will replied with, "Or William." It doesn't sound so funny now, but it was pretty funny. I would have given my left leg to be in his baptism interview. I bet that would have been hilarious :) Of course, Will swam to the side of the baptismal font. He thought it was so cool and asked everyone afterwards if they saw him do it.

After the baptism and confirmation, we had a little brunch. Michelle had made a frittata like egg dish, fruit, cinnamon rolls, a variety of breads, and juice. The food was all sooo good. The cinnamon rolls were scrumptious and she told me they were just the frozen Rhodes kind. I'll have to put those on my grocery list :) She also made lemon, pumpkin, and an almond poppyseed bread. I took a piece of the almond poppyseed bread. I wish I would have taken it all it was so good. Luckily, Michelle had extra at the end and sent us home with some. I told Jim to keep his mitts off of it, haha.

I sat by Will while we were eating. Michelle had given him a piece of the lemon bread. She knew he wouldn't like it, but she gave him some so he would at least try it. He took a big 'ol bite of the bread and said, "This is horrible." I about died laughing. Good thing his mom was the cook :)

We spent the afternoon at Jerry and Michelle's house. Will has a Wii that I was dying to play. I know, I'm 26 years old but I still love to play Mario Kart. The last time we were at his house was on a Sunday. He asked me to come downstairs to see something and we started playing the Wii. I didn't know the Wii was off limits on Sunday's so we got in trouble, oops. I finally got a chance at Mario Kart and it was a blast. I must have been being a little too dramatic while playing cause Gabe told me I act weird sometimes.

This is the only pic I have from the day. It's a picture of Will with his parents, Jerry and Michelle. Michelle has a picture of Jim, Ryan, and me with Will. I asked her to email it to me so when she does, I'll post it.
