Wasp

Jake and I went outside today while Ryan was taking his nap.  It's been cooler the last few days so I feel like our days of being able to go outside are numbered, agh!  I've been taking a break from house work so we can go outside while we still can.

Anyway, Jake and I were outside.  He was playing with some toys while I was just a few feet away weeding and working in the flower beds.  Suddenly he started to cry, really cry.  I ran over to where he was and he was holding a wasp in his hand.  I got it out of his hand and figured the wasp had stung his little hand.  I ran him inside and put a cold wash cloth on his hand.  Then I noticed his arm--it was all red and swollen.  That's when I saw the red stinger hole and it was white all around it.  The wasp had stung Jake's fore arm, ouch.!

I had no idea what to do for the poor little guy.  Of course, I had forgot to charge my phone last night so the battery was dying.  While I put Ry for his nap I put my phone on the charger so I didn't have it with me.  I sprinted upstairs with Jake in tow and got the phone off the charger (I'm way OCD about stupid things and one thing I hate is to take the phone off of the charger before it's fully charged, ugh--stupid, I know).  I called Jim but he didn't answer.  Just as I was getting ready to call my mom, Jim called me back.  He told me to put ice on the sting and to just watch him close to make sure he didn't have an allergic reaction.
We also had our basement inspected today.  I thought it would be a little more intense than it was.  The guy was here and gone within 5 minutes, literally.  He said Spanish Fork City would send us a letter stating we had passed.  So, we're officially done with the basement--WAHOO!  I guess the only thing we need to do is move everything from the garage back to the storage room, ugh.  That will be a big task because I want to go through everything before we just throw it back down into the basement.
I wasn't able to take a picture of the sting until after Ryan woke up since my camera was in my room where he was sleeping.  By the time a took a picture of the sting, it wasn't so prominent.
A close up of the sting.

The next few pics are just of the boys playing.
Jake and Ryan sitting on the back deck.
My cute little Jakey.
Ryan loves to go down the slide even if it is miniature.  We need to get a bigger slide for the boys :)
Ryan also loves to mow.  He is really possessive and has to have his mower when he mows.  I thought he'd like Jake's mower that he got for his birthday, but no, Ry loves his old mow :)
I'm a weirdo and wanted to take a few pics of the backyard so I can see if it progresses any.  Hopefully it will get better next year.
We put the rocks down and planted the daisies (not sure if that's what they really are) this year.
The myrtle we planted.
Ryan took Jim's hat that was on the table and wore it.  He looked too cute with it on.

Jake's 1 Year Old Pics and Family Pics

We had Peekaboo Photography take our pictures on July 29th. I scheduled the shoot to get Jake's 1 year pics, some updated pics of Ryan and our family. We had initially been scheduled to have pics taken on Friday June 25th. But that was the day Jim came down with the gungboo, hardcore! Both boys had also been sick that week, too.  I called to re-schedule and we weren't able to get in until July 29th.  I'm just glad we were still able to get in--Kate first told me the first she could get me in was in September!

We only did a few shots in the studio then we headed over to a park by the Timpanogos Temple.  Kate and Dan suggested we do some shots at the park the last time we had pictures taken because Ryan was such a stinker.

The kids did ok during pictures.  They were pretty good for the pictures in the studio.  Then we went to the park.  When we got to the park, Ryan was running around like a wild animal.  Dan was chasing him around--I kind of felt bad.  I thought for sure we wouldn't get any good pics of Ryan.  Jake was kind of being a stink when we got to the park, too.

I'm really happy with the way the pictures turned out.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pictures that Kate & Dan take.  They just keep raising their darn prices so I'm not sure if we'll be able to go back :(

Anyway, here are our latest pictures :)

Vacation Hangover

Holy moly, I've been in a funk the past couple of days.  We have laundy to do, house to pick up, grocery shopping that needs to be done...have I done it yet?  NO!  Does it need to be done?  Desperately!  Do I have the desire to do it?  Absolutely NOT!  I don't know what my deal is.  I'm usually itching to get things done and just don't have enough hours in the day.  I think I just need to go back to Hawaii :)

Hawaiian Vacation Day 3: August 22

Today we decided to go to the Champagne Brunch at the hotel for breakfast.  It was a whopping $30 a plate, but it was oh so worth it.  All of the food was delish!  We stuffed ourselves silly--everyone but Clint cause he has issues :)

After our delicious breakfast, we got in our cars and headed to our first destination--The Botanical Gardens.  We got lost on the way there--Cory thought he had put the address for the Botanical Gardens in on his GPS but he had put Hawaii's Parks & Recreation or some crazy thing like that in accidentally.  So, we went in the complete opposite direction of where we needed to go for about 45 minutes.  We got a nice little tour of the island :)

We finally made it to our destination.  The Botanical Gardens weren't quite what we were expecting--not sure what we expected though.

Here we are just starting on our journey--we have no idea what lies ahead of us, ha ha.

The Botanical Gardens was a self guided walking tour.  It was like we were hiking in the mountains in the extreme heat :)
All of the flowers were amazing though.  The plumeria flowers were so pretty.  I didn't care for the smell of them but they are pleasing to the eye.
The beautiful scenery.
More vibrant flowers, not sure what they are though.
A plumeria tree.
I was in love with all of the bright colored flowers.  I had to get a picture with them.
The girls in front of the awesome flowers.
I put a plumeria behind my ear...when in Rome :)
Cory and Annie by more amazing flowers.
The hibiscus--so pretty.  They have them in every color imaginable, too.
Yellow plumeria flowers--gorgeous.
These flowers kind of looked like crepe paper--thin and kind of see through but still beautiful.
Still hiking--we were all kind of wondering when the hike would be over :)
Some crazy cactus--looks like snakes, eww.
Of course Clint would pretend to be "dumping" in the No Dumping area.  He's a dork.
Clint, Candice, Annie, and Cory on the hike.
Jim checking everything out.
I can't remember the name of this tree but isn't it weird looking.
That is one large fern.  It wasn't really a fern (can't remember its real name) but it definitely looks like one.
Clint and Candice--not sure why they are posing like such.
Look at the size of that tree trunk--it's huge.
SO, Jen wore her swimming suit under her dress/swim suit cover up to the Botanical Gardens because snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was next on the agenda.  Her poor thighs rubbed together and caused some  major chaffing.  She had to tuck her dress between her legs about midway through the gardens for a little relief.  Ouch!!
Some houses we could see from the Botanical Gardens.  I couldn't even imagine living in a place so beautiful.
Annie taking a picture of the plumeria flowers.  We both took a ton of pictures of all of the flowers.
Another stunning plumeria.

We kept seeing little small animals/rodents run around while we were hiking.  On our way out, we asked the park ranger what they were.  I think we caught him off guard or he wasn't expecting that question because he tried to spit out the name of the rodent for what seemed like 5 minutes.  We eventually just had to walk away because we were all about to die laughing.

After we finally made it through the Botanical Gardens, we started driving to Hanauma Bay.  We saw a look out on the way back so we stopped to check out the scenery.
This is what we saw when we checked out the look out.
We saw some kids sitting on the rocks.  We all think they were smoking a little weed--it definitely looked that way :)
I think these must be locals that were chilling on these rocks/beach.  I have no idea how they got over there or dared to climb all over those steep rocks.
We made it to Hanauma Bay to do a little snorkeling.  We were all way hot and ready to get in the water.

We had all forgot towels so we stopped at the gift shop and bought some beach towels.  Then we had to watch a little video about what we could and couldn't do before we could go and snorkel.  After it was over, we made our way down to the beach.
A view of the bay.  It is gorgeous.
There was a steep hill we had to walk down to get to the beach.

We finally got down to the beach area where we rented our snorkel gear.

It was kind of busy but we were able to find our own little spot on the beach and do some snorkeling.
Clint and Candice ready to snorkel.
Annie and I ready to snorkel.
All of us in the water.  Jen took this picture.  She didn't want to snorkel so she just hung out on the beach.

I lasted about 5 minutes in the water.  It was freaking me out for some reason so I was breathing heavy and getting tired.  I was getting water in my mask and in my mouth.  To see anything good you had to go out really pretty far and there was no way that was happening so I came back in and hung out with Jen.
Candice's camera was water proof so she took it out snorkeling with her and got a few really cool pictures.  This is a picture of a fish underwater.
Candice's self portrait :)  I think it's pretty cool!

Jim, Brandon, and Clint all went out pretty far and saw some really cool things like sea turtles and fish.  They snorkeled for a good long time.

We stayed at Hanauma Bay for a couple hours and then decided to leave.

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at a Taco Bell and got a bite to eat.  We also got a Jamba Juice--it was sounding pretty good :)

We all got ready when we got back to the hotel.  We didn't have anything in mind for dinner so we decided to head downtown and find a good place to eat.

With 8 people trying to decide where to eat dinner, it can get pretty hectic.  No one was making a decision and we were all hungry and a bit tired.  Finally Annalisa saw a restaurant called The Atlantis.  We decided to go there.

Jim and I sitting down at dinner.  Can you tell Jim is getting sick of having his picture taken? :)
Candice opted for the specialty drink in the pineapple.  Doesn't it look so awesome in the pineapple!
Annie and Cory at dinner.

Dinner was amazing!  Everyone was happy with what they ordered and it wasn't super expensive.
This is Annie's mad face at Clint--he said he chose The Atlantis for dinner, but really Annie chose it :)

On our walk home from dinner, we stopped at this little fruit stand.  We got some fresh pineapple, mangoes, and papaya to take back to the hotel and snack on and have for breakfast the next morning.
Cory and Candice waiting to get some fruit.

See the little Asian guy sitting in the chair?  Yeah, he looked about 80 or so.  We figured that was Henry.  He LOVED Asian Annie.  He would smile and flirt with her.  She would talk to him.  But if Candice or I tried to talk to the guy, he wouldn't even acknowledge us!
Jim and I outside of Henry's Fruit Stand.  It was the BEST fruit ever, too!

Around the Hale Koa, the Army has put circuit training stations all around the post.  Jim and Clint made up this rule that whoever stepped into the sand first, knowing or unknowingly, had to do the circuit.  Tonight, Annalisa made the mistake of stepping into the sand first.  She went ahead and did the circuit.

She was supposed to jump over this bar and have both legs clear the bar.  It seemed so easy.  She tried to do it and totally fell flat on her back.  It was hilarious.

Day 3 in Hawaii was fantastic!
