Blue Tongues

I had errands I needed to run after going to the gym today. But, as we left the gym and got in the car, I was in auto pilot mode and just headed straight for home.  It wasn't until I unloaded the boys, let them play outside for a bit, and then went inside and looked at my handy dandy planner that I realized I had forgot to run my errands.

I bribed my boys with a trip to Johnny's so they'd get back in the car and run my errands with me.  One of my errands was to make a deposit at the bank.  I had to make a deposit into the FRG account and that account is with Mountain America which is on the north end of Spanish Fork, pretty close to Jim's work.  I decided to call him and see if he could go to lunch.

Jim decided to break away for a bit and we went to Cafe Rio for lunch.  Yum!  After lunch, we took Jim back to work.  We pulled into the armory parking lot and there were a bunch of soldiers in uniform outside.  Jake said, "Look dad!  There's your friends!"  He thinks just because  they are in uniforms like Jim's they are automatically his friends.  Too funny!

We dropped Jim off and headed for home.  I thought the boys had forgot about our trip to Johnny's, but they hadn't so we stopped and got some penny candy.  The other night, Ryan had an airhead from his Halloween candy that turned his mouth blue (we only have a few pieces of Halloween candy left--thank goodness!).  He's been asking for another ever since he saw that the candy changed his tongue colors.  Luckily, Johnny's had some airheads so we bought a couple.

Ryan and Jake both picked a green and a blue airhead hoping that both would change their mouths colors.  They tried the green airhead first, but it didn't really do anything to their mouths.  Then they ate the blue. Finally, they got their mouths to change colors!  They ran around for 20 minutes with their tongues hanging out.  Oh, the things that entertain my boys :)

The only problem is now they are begging to go back to Johnny's for more airheads!
Their tongues match their eyes!

Mutella

Ryan is into nutella on toast these days.  He asks for it often, but he doesn't ask for nutella--he asks for mutella.  It makes me laugh!

When he eats his toast, he manages to get mutella all over his face!

Showing me his hands but you can't see it very good.  It's mainly all over his mug!

Thanksgiving {2011}

The holidays are officially here.  Can you believe it?!?  This year we headed to Oak City to spend Thanksgiving with the Nielson's.

I started the day by going to the gym early this morning.  I wanted to go to the Turkey Day Group Exercise class but it didn't start until 8am and Jim wanted to get on the road.  SO, I got up and went to the gym at 6:15am.  It was nice to get up and get it over with though.

I came home and we all got ready.  We were out the door by 10am and were the first to arrive in Oak City--nobody was waiting on us to eat :)

The Clark's helped Grandma Guin make place settings for all of the kids.  They were really cute.
Muren is showing me Jake's place setting.  It says Jake the snake :)
Ryan has cars on it since he like cars.

After dinner, we played some card games.

Jim helped himself to some delicious pie.
Jake loves all of the dogs, but it takes him a minute to get warmed up to them.
When they lick him, he gets a little nervous.
Jake loves the dogs.  Good thing they are all pretty mellow dogs so he doesn't get hurt.

We had a really good Thanksgiving with good food and good family.

Thanksgiving Celebration at Preschool

Ryan had a Thanksgiving Celebration at preschool today.  When I picked him up, he came walking out with an Indian vest, head band with 2 green feathers, and a necklace.  He was so proud of his Indian outfit!  And he looked pretty cute, too, so when we got home I had him go outside so we could get a couple of pictures.

Homework

Ryan brings home every Thursday from preschool.  He is to do his homework over the weekend and turn his homework in at class at Tuesday.  We have good intentions of getting his homework done over the weekend so we get it out of the way.  BUT, let's be honest, we are usually doing it Monday night or even Tuesday morning.  We are procrastinators!

Monday night, we finally got Ryan to sit down and do his homework.  He looked like such a big boy so I had to take some pictures of him doing his letter I homework :)

I'm a Klutz!

In an attempt to pick up my boys socks before going upstairs to get them in the tub last night, I dumped my lap top on the ground.  Yes, it was only dropped a few inches from the floor since I was bending over, but the fatal drop did a number on my LCD screen.

I was sick to my stomach and very upset!  My lap top isn't very old (probably old in computer years but it's still new in my eyes and works fine) and fixing or possibly having to purchase a new lap top wasn't in our budget.

While at the gym this morning, Jim found a new LCD screen online for $55.  I had texted my computer genius brother-in-law after leaving the gym to see if my computer was a goner.  He said that screens can run quite a bit of money and may not be worth it.  He also suggested I plug my computer into an external monitor to make sure it still actually worked.

Jim took my computer downstairs and plugged our desktop screen into my lap top and my lap top still works!  Relief!!

Until my new screen gets here, I will be computing via our desk top screen :)

I'm just SO relieved that my computer is still alive and can be fixed relatively cheap.  Thank goodness!

Seriously, I don't know what my deal is lately--leaving my make-up at Snowbird, dropping and breaking my lap top screen...what's next!

Hand, Foot, and Mouth

A couple of days ago, Jake told me he had an owie on his foot and had me kiss it.  This is a daily routine for Jake and me.  He gets an owie, I kiss it, he gets over his owie, and goes on with life.  However, he is very persistent and will not leave me alone unless I kiss the owie :)

Anyway, this particular owie that looked like a bump, blister, or zit did not grab my attention.  Jake has been wearing his cowboy boots a lot lately--when I say a lot it's every day.  I thought the bump might just be a blister from his cowboy boots.

Yesterday, I noticed a bump on his hip where his diaper is, there were more bumps on his feet, and now some on his hands.  I had Jim look at the bumps when he got home from work.  Jim thought Jake might have chicken pox.  Great.

Today, when I got Jake dressed for the day he had more bumps on his feet and hands and now he was getting them up the back of his legs and behind his knees.  I called Jim and he said we better make him an appointment with the doctor.

Ry had a school field trip this afternoon and I had signed up to drive and help with kids.  I decided to just go and still take Jake with me.  While in the car it hit me that Jake might have hand, foot, and mouth! I just got thinking about where his bumps were and it just made sense.

Also, a few weeks ago (maybe even a couple of months) at the gym, there was a sign on the door that there was a hand, foot, and mouth virus outbreak.  I didn't think to much of it and kept taking my kids to the day care and just made sure to wash and sanitize their hands after we left.  It seems to have caught up with us though.

SO, after being around kids all day at the gym daycare and at Ry's preschool field trip, I took Jake to his doctor appointment at 4:50pm.  The doctor confirmed that Jake has the hand, foot, and mouth virus and that his bumps are very contagious to infants and children until they scab over.  Nice.  Jake only has bumps on his hands and feet though; the doctor couldn't see any sores in his mouth, thank goodness!

While at the doctor, Jake did his favorite thing and put his socks on his hands.  I told the doctor that was his thing and he thought he was a super hero with socks on his hands.  The doctor laughed and said it actually might be a good thing to keep his hands covered up so he doesn't put his hands and his mouth and spread the virus.  I guess I won't get so irritated when Jake asks us to put his socks on his hands 100 times a day :)

The doctor said the symptoms usually lasts 5-7 days and will then start to go away.  The bumps will start to scab over and that is when we know he is on the mend.  I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he is better by Thanksgiving so we can go to Oak City and be with family.  Oh, and feast :)
These are Jake's bumps as of 11.19.2011 so they are a little bigger and more progressed compared to the first day we noticed them.  The top, left picture is a bump on his foot; the rest are on his fingers.

More bumps on Jake's feet.  These are in the final stages as they are more scabbed over than the others.

Ryan wanted me to take a picture of him since I was taking pictures of Jake.  He's such a nerd.
Pics taken 11.19.2011

And one last picture of Ryan.  Notice his "kool-aid mustache".  It's not from kool-aid, he licks his lips and it drives me CRAZY!

Safety Fieldtrip

Ryan's preschool class has been learning about safety so they took a field trip to the fire station and police station today.

We went to the fire station in Salem first.  Again, in the short 8 minute ride to Salem, both of my boys fell asleep and woke up grouchy.  Awesome.  I contemplated leaving Jake in the car to sleep, but since we were on a safety field trip I thought I better just wake him up and take him in :)

The firemen talked to the kids about how to get out of their house in case of a fire.  They talked about all of their gear and to not be afraid of firemen if they come to have to come to their house and help put out a fire.  I actually found it quite interesting to learn about their gear.  The oxygen tanks they carry are about 25 pounds--it was a lot heavier than I thought.
These are some of Ryan's friends from his class.  He was too grumpy to go and stand with them.  I thought it was so cute how they are holding hands.  Not sure who the kid in the plaid shirt is (the morning class came with us on this field trip) but the little boy in the camo jacket is Rhett, Cohen is in the green, and Luke is in the red shirt.

Yes, Jake looks drunk but it was the best picture I was able to get.
Ryan in the fire truck.  His little friend from class, Kysajia, is in the purple.
They took a picture of all of the kids at the fire station.  Of course, Ryan refused to be in the picture.  I couldn't get all of the kids in one picture so I took 3.
A couple more pics of some of the group on the field trip.  Ryan finally got in one of the last pictures.

After the fire station, we went to the Spanish Fork police station for a little tour.  It was kind of fun to see the station, but I don't think it was as fun for the kids.

Again, another attempt at a group picture and Ryan was being a turd.  Look at him in these pictures, seriously!
Ryan is learning a lot about safety at school.  He tells us all of the time to wear our seat belts and make sure he is buckled in his so he can be safe :)  I'm glad he is learning so much at school!

{11.11.11}

Today is Veteran's Day on a very cool date, 11.11.11.  I'm very proud of my husband and what he does.  BUT, I won't lie--just the word deployment makes me nervous.  Just ask Jim :)

Today, I had a check-up with my eye doctor.  It's been nearly a year since I had my LASIK enhancement and my eyes are doing fab!  I'm so thankful, too.  You don't realize how nice it is to not have to wear glasses.  I'm sure I'll have to wear them again when I'm older, but I'll enjoy the years I get to spend without them.

After my eye appointment, we met my mom and dad in Draper for lunch.  They drove up for the Hometown Heroes Appreciation Day at Cabela's.  We went to Applebee's where Jim and my dad got a free lunch for being veterans!

My mom and I then took the boys to Kohl's after lunch and did a little shopping while Jim and my dad headed to Cabela's to do their shopping.  Cabela's isn't my favorite store to shop at :)  Ryan and Jake fell asleep on the way from Kohl's to Cabela's so we sat in the car and waited for Jim and my dad to finish up their shopping.  My dad bought a few things for himself and his neighbor, Arlo.  Jim didn't get anything on this trip, that I know of anyway :)

While waiting, I decided that Jim and my dad would take my car and drive the boys home while my mom and I ran a couple more errands :)  Awesome plan?  I thought so :)  Jim wasn't too thrilled but went along with my plan anyway.

My mom and I stopped at Pier 1 and the University Mall then headed back to Spanish Fork.  We spent the rest of the night at home just relaxing--well, relaxing as much as you can with two boys running around being boys :)

We had a really good day.  It was fun to get out of the house and do something out of the norm.

Thanks to all those who serve or have served, especially my husband Jim, brother-in-law Jason, my dad, my grandpa Huck, and many other friends.  I appreciate all that you do!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Jake's Big Boy Bed

Jim had the day off today in honor of Veteran's Day so we made use of his time off and got Jake's bed set up.  We decided to put the boys in the same room to see if that would help Jake stay in his bed all night.  We'll see if it helps :)  SO, Ryan's room is now Ryan and Jake's room and it is pretty much wall to wall beds!

Jake was pretty excited to sleep in his new bed.  He even shooed me out of the room when I tried to lay by him for a minute :)  It wasn't 10 minutes later I could hear him in the room crying.  I went back in there and laid with him for a few minutes and he must have went to sleep, yay!

When I went back in the room, Ryan told me that Jake wouldn't stay in his bed and that he was sad.  I told Ry it was ok, that it was Jake's first night in his big boy bed, and he's not quite used to it.  Ryan continued to tell me that he and Jake are not twins but they look alike.  I'm not sure why he thought about this at 9pm but it made me laugh (they got to bed a little later than normal because we went to dinner with Spencer and Lacy tonight.  The boys got to stay home with Audrey.  They had loads of fun with her, too!).  I get asked all the time if my boys are twins and I have to tell them no, they are just really close in age.  So he hears this all the time and sometimes he'll even chime in and tell people that he and Jake are not twins, ha ha.  Kids don't miss anything!

Had to get a picture of Ryan in his big boy bed, too.
We have a new bed for Ryan, too, but we still need to put one more coat of paint on it before we can set it up.  Hopefully we can get that done ASAP so I can pull my car in the garage before it snows!

*UPDATE* Jake slept all night in his bed!  He even slept in a little bit--he didn't wake up til it was nearly 8am!  Hopefully this will be a trend!

Text Message from Miss Tiffany

Got a text message from Miss Tiffany this afternoon with this picture attached.  She has told me before that Ryan will occasionally fall asleep in class, but its totally normal for kids just starting preschool and who are used to taking naps and still take them on the days they don't come to preschool.

Well, before the time change, Ryan was doing really well and hadn't taken any snoozers in class for a month or so.

This is what happens to kids when you do a little switcheroo with the time!  The poor kid falls asleep in class!  Miss Tiffany told me the kids were evening saying "boo" to try and get him to wake up but he wouldn't wake up, ha ha.  He may have been a little more tired than usual today because he wouldn't take a nap yesterday.

I'll have to make sure he gets his naps on Monday & Wednesday's to see if that helps :)

Supa He-yo

Jake's new thing is to put his socks on his hands.  When his socks are on his hands, he thinks he's a supa heyo aka super hero.  I'm not sure what event took place that gave socks super hero powers but whatever makes the kid happy, right :)

Super Hero Pose!

Dinosaur Baby

With it getting colder outside, we've started putting Jake in the warm, zip up jammies (also because he kicks all of his covers off in the night and his room is the Arctic for some reason).  I thought he would freak out about it because we don't have any of the zip up jammies for Ryan.  But, he actually loved the jammies and gets ticked when I take them off of him in the morning.

His jammies of choice have a dinosaur stitched on the front of them so he calls himself "the dinosaur baby" when he wears them.  Not sure why he calls himself that but he sure does and it cracks me up.  It might have something to do with the fact that I'm trying to push the idea of him being a big boy and that he should use the potty.  Jake reassures me he's not ready to use the potty by calling himself a baby :)

I had to go to my photo shop class, aka mommy's school, tonight.  So we got the boys in the tub before I had to go.  The boys were out of the tub by 7:15pm so we had a quick game of hide-and-go-seek--the boys new favorite game to play.  Except Ryan is a bit of a chicken and won't go and "seek" the hider by himself.

It cracks me up that the boys know Jim is hiding and he can still scare the holy be-jeezus out of them.  SO funny!
The boys also wrestled with daddy and played with puzzles while I got ready to go to my class.

We had some good family time tonight!  It was so fun to play with the boys and make memories together.

Where's My Make-Up?

I got up bright and early this morning to get ready to go to the armory to sell breakfast items to the soldiers in Jim's unit to make a little money for our FRG.  I showered, got dressed, and went to get my make-up out of the drawer so I could put it on but it wasn't there.  What the...!  We unpacked our suitcase last night and had already taken the suitcase downstairs so I knew it couldn't be in there.  I was in a panic!  Where could it be??

I called Jim and asked if he had seen it or put it somewhere.  He hadn't.  I got on my computer and looked up the number for Snowbird and called them.  Housekeeping wouldn't be in until 8am (it was only 6:30am) and wouldn't be able to look until then.  AGHHH!

Luckily I had a spare powder and tube of mascara in my drawer that I used so I could at least look presentable and went to the armory to do my job.

Side note, today is the end of day light savings.  I thought with the extra hour of sleep, it would be easy for my boys to get up at 7am (which would feel like 8am to them) so they could come with me to the armory.  NOPE!  I hate to wake them up and, really, it would be easier if I didn't have to take them with me.  I called my sister Molly next door to see if she could possibly come over to watch my boys for an hour or two.  Yes, I called my sister on a Sunday at 7am.  She didn't answer.  Luckily though, she called me right back and was able to come and watch my boys.  She later told me they didn't get up until almost 9am!  I'm not sure why they were so tired this morning--they ONLY sleep in when I need them to get up early, ugh.

As soon as I saw Jim, he asked if they {Snowbird} had found my make-up.  I'm not sure why (well, I am sure why.  I have invested in my makeup and brushes for the past few years so to just up and replace everything was going to be SO expensive) but I burst into tears.  How embarrassing!  I told him they said they would call me after Housekeeping came in.

Time went on and we finished up at the armory.  It was after 9am and I still hadn't heard from Snowbird.  I decided to call them again.  The front desk transferred me to Housekeeping.  I spoke with a Spanish speaking lady who told me they DID have my make-up!  I was so happy and relieved!!  Now I just needed to figure out a time when I could go up there and get my goods in Jim's truck (since you have to have 4 wheel drive this time of year to get up the canyon).

Around 6pm I had the bright idea to see if Snowbird could ship my make-up to me and save me the trip up there.  They told me the shipping department wasn't in at the time and told me to call back in the morning.  Even if they can't ship it, I'm SO happy they have it.  Until I can get my precious make-up back in my hands, powder and mascara will have to do :)

{UPDATE 11.7.2011} I talked to the shipping department at Snowbird.  They can ship my make-up to me and it should only cost about $10-12.  I told them to go ahead and ship it!  It would probably cost us a lot more than $12 to drive Jim's truck to Salt Lake.  I'm so happy things are working out!

{UPDATE 11.9.2011}  The UPS man just delivered my make-up to my front door.  I opened it up and everything is in tact!  Woot, woot!  Jim said the housekeeping department probably had a make-up party Sunday night with all of my make-up, LOL.  I better get my brushes washed!

TAG Symposium

At the Flag Retirement in July, Becca Christiansen asked me to be the treasurer for the Family Readiness Group (FRG) for Jim's unit.  The FRG of each unit helps keep the family members of soldiers informed and taken care of while the soldiers are home and especially while they are deployed.  The only way I can kind of explain the FRG is they are kind of like the Relief Society in the church :)

Anyway, I was trained in October (yes, 3 months later) and told about the TAG Symposium (The Adjutant General) that is for FRG's that would be in November.  I didn't think I would be going nor did I really care to, but as it got closer and got emails about going, I thought it would be best to go.  Jim also had to go because it is strongly recommended that Senior Leaders go to the conference.

My mom so kindly obliged to babysitting our boys overnight so Jim and I could go to the conference.  The conference started Friday November 4th and was held up at Snow Bird's Cliff Lodge.  Of course there was a massive Winter snow warning for Friday and Saturday so all of the emails we got said to be prepared to stay overnight Saturday in the event that we couldn't get down the canyon.  We prepared for the worse and packed an extra set of clothes for the boys to stay in Levan and for us to stay up at Snow Bird.

We took the boys to Levan Friday morning and then we headed to Salt Lake City from there.  We stopped in American Fork for some lunch.  We were going to go to Olive Garden, but it was SO busy there wasn't even a place to park so we went to Five Guys Burgers instead.  Just an FYI for anyone else that goes there, a regular burger has 2 patties!  I'm not a huge fan of meat anyway so I wasn't thrilled to see 2 patties on my burger.  Other than that, the food was great.  I even talked Jim into a Red Mango before we continued on to Salt Lake :)

After a quick stop to run through Carter's and Nordstrom Rack in Sandy, we made our way up the canyon.  We got to Snowbird a little after 3pm and got checked in.  The symposium started at 4pm.  We listened to speakers with a few snacks and breaks in between until 9:30pm.  It actually went by fairly fast, I learned quite a bit (especially at the couponing class, ha ha), and I got to know the ladies better that I'll be working with in the FRG.

When we first decided to actually go to and register for the conference, I was excited because without kids I thought Jim and I would be able to sneak in a movie and dinner--something fun.  Well, when we found out the conference wouldn't be letting out until late in the evening and with the storm warning, we knew it would be all business on this trip without kids :(

After the conference wrapped up on Friday night, Jim and I went back to our room, got our stuff ready for the next day, and went to bed so we could get up bright and early for more meetings in the morning.

Saturday November 5, 2011:

I got up around 6am so I could get ready for the day and make it down in time to grab some breakfast.  I was wishing I had gone with my gut and packed my Magic Bullet blender and some protein powder and just made myself a shake for breakfast.  Next time, for sure!

The first set of speakers for the day were quite interesting so the time went by quickly.  Around 10am, we left the main conference and did some breakout sessions where we got to choose which sessions we went to.  We picked the finance session and the "tackling your phone tree" session, both were really good classes.

After these 2 classes, we broke for a catered lunch. The food was actually quite good.  They served a really yummy salad, fajitas, and enchiladas.  While eating lunch, they had a speaker that we listened to.  After the speaker, there was another break out session where we got to choose 2 more classes to go to.

With the snow, some of the speakers weren't able to make it up the canyon and to the conference.  But, the leaders of the conference didn't let the attendees know.  So, Jim and I picked the next 2 classes that we wanted to go to not knowing that we wouldn't be learning what we thought.  Holy cow--the next 2 hours drug by.  I even fell asleep in the second class--it was awful!  The information was not helpful to me and was a waste of my time.  To keep myself awake, I watched videos of my kids that I had taken with my phone.

The rest of the conference went by so s-l-o-w!  I was counting down to the 5 o'clock hour for sure.  Finally, it was 5pm and time to leave.  We had checked out of our room at the 9:30am break and took our luggage to the bell desk.  We were the first in line at valet to get our truck and bags.  For some reason, it took forever to get our truck.  People who had came after us were getting in their vehicles and leaving.  I had to finally go and ask where our truck was.  The guy said he had been looking for us, right...

It was SO cold when we left.  It wasn't snowing right at that moment, but it had been last night and all morning/afternoon.  Jim's truck said it was 18 degrees!
The only picture I took at the conference and I took this as we were getting our truck from the valet :)
We headed down the canyon and back to Spanish Fork to get our car so we could go pick up our boys in Levan.  We made a quick stop at Sam's Club to pick up some cream cheese.  The new FRG is going to go sell breakfast to the guys at drill in the morning.

We made it to Levan around 7pm.  My mom had made dinner so we ate there.  We stayed and chatted for a bit, packed up our bags, and headed back to Spanish Fork.  My boys had fun at Grandma's house and weren't super excited about going home.  I'm glad they are that comfortable with my parents :)

We got the boys in the tub when we got home so I could just dress them in the morning since we have to get up early.  Then we read books and went to bed.  Daylight savings ends tonight, too, so we changed our alarm clocks so we wouldn't get up earlier than we needed to.

I had a lot of fun at the TAG Symposium, until the end of the second day, ha ha.  I feel like I learned a lot and am more comfortable with my job in the FRG.  I'm excited to become more involved and get to know some of the guys and their families that are in Jim's unit.

Preschool Field Trip to the Pet Store

Today Ryan's preschool class took a field trip to the pet store.  I wasn't super excited to go as I'm not a huge fan of pets, but we had a good time.

We went to the Animal Ark pet store on Center Street in Orem.  Of course my boys fell asleep on the ride to Orem so they were a little ornery when we first got to the pet shop.  They warmed up pretty quick though.
Top left: Jake liked looking at the kitties, Bottom left: Ryan like the fish and tried to put his hand in the water, ick., Picture on the right: Miss Tiffany showed the kids all of the different spiders, snakes, and lizards.
Top left: Miss Tiffany and the kids checking out all of the different fish, Bottom left: Ryan really liked the birds, Picture on the right: Jake and Ryan spent the bulk of the time checking out the birds.  They thought they were pretty cool.
Top left: After seeing all of the animals, Ry asked to go and see the mice again.  He even asked if he could get one--absolutely not!, Bottom left: Ryan and Jake getting one last look at the kitties, Picture on the right: Jake was brave and touched the snake!  Ryan wouldn't have anything to do with it :)
We went to Target after we finished up at the pet store and shopped around for a bit.  We couldn't be so close to Target and not stop :)

We had a lot of fun at the pet store and even got used to the nasty smell after being in there for a while :)

44 & 28 Months and a Crazy Day!

Ryan at 44 Months:
  • loves preschool and learns so much every day.
  • is learning to write his letters and is pretty adamant about writing them by himself without any help.  He can write his first name all by himself!
  • is completely potty trained, woot woot.  He even has going #2 down and doesn't hold it anymore.  His new thing is going to the potty by himself meaning that he pulls his pants down and gets on the potty by himself.
  • can take a pill and swallow it without chewing.  He now takes a 1/2 of a Kirkland brand "Zyrtec" every night for his allergies, and he swallows it like a champ.  I don't know many 3 year old's that can do this, but Ry can!

Jake at 28 Months:
  • refuses to have anything to do with the potty although he wakes up dry almost every morning and tells me when he needs a diaper change immediately after peeing or pooping his pants.  When I lay him down to change him, he always tells me to get a grocery bag :)
  • I don't know if I should write this down or not...but when I take Ryan to preschool, I don't buckle Jake in his car seat.  SO, now every time he gets in his car seat he flips out and says, "I don't need to be buckled!"  I've created a monster!
  • still takes 1 nap--he usually falls asleep on the way home from picking Ry up from preschool so its a nap that is later in the day, around 3pm.

The boys and I went to the gym this morning.  Just after I dropped the boys off at the day care and class was about to start, the power went out.  What the?!?!  Tara, the class instructor, decided to start warming up in hopes that the power would come back on shortly.  The power never came back on.  The class ended up being fast paced due to no music for people to try and follow and super hot because there was no A/C or fans to cool off the aerobics room.

Some of the girls that were in the gym class had heard from friends/family that the power was out from Springville all the way to Nephi and school was going to be let out.

The fuel light came on Monday night.  I was going to fill up last night when I went to my Photoshop class, but I forgot to bring my debit card with me.  I thought it would be fine and that I'd just fill up after the gym in the morning.  I thought about getting gas before the gym, but if I stopped to fill up I would be late to class, which would make it so I might not get a spot on a bag.  When the power went out, there was no getting fuel in Spanish Fork.  I'm positive I was running on fumes last night!  I called Jim and he said I better drive to Provo and get fuel.

I started on my way to Provo preparing for my car to run out of gas on the freeway.  Luckily, we made it to the gas station.  I think everyone and their dogs were filling up their vehicles at the exact moment when I needed gas.  I waited in line for fuel for over 30 minutes!  Another dilemma I had was I didn't charge my cell phone last night so of course my battery was about dead and I couldn't charge it, ugh.

Jim and I had made plans to take his truck to Larry H. Miller in Provo to get the oil changed and his safety and emissions testing done.  We were going to take the truck in around Noon, but with the power out and my fuel debacle, we took the truck in a little earlier than planned.  The gal that helped Jim when he dropped off his truck said it would take 1 1/2 hours to do all they needed to do to his truck.  We decided to just wait for the truck in Provo since Jim couldn't go back to work and work with the power out.

The boys wanted to go to Old McDonald's for lunch so that is where we went and wasted some time.  We also ran to the bank and the post office.  It had been 2 hours since we dropped the truck off.  When we called to see if it was done, they told us it would be another 1/2 hour.  I flipped and gave the guy a piece of my mind.  The power was now back on and Jim needed to get back to work.  So rather than wait another half hour, I took Jim back to work and took the boys home for their naps.  Oh, and I took a shower since I was still nasty and in my gym clothes from this morning.

Around 5pm, we went and picked up Jim from work and we went and picked up his truck.  Larry H. Miller felt bad for being late with Jim's truck and didn't charge us ANYTHING for the services they did!  I was shocked!  Our total would have been at least $50, if not more.  I actually called and thanked them and apologized for being a huss earlier today.

We then drove to a mattress store in Pleasant Grove to get Jake a mattress for his big boy bed.  He still comes and gets in our bed every night and it makes it so we all get terrible sleep.  We're hoping if Jake gets in his big boy bed, hopefully he'll stay in it.  I actually said we needed to get him the mos comfortable mattress so it would be more comfortable than ours and then he'd stay in his own bed, ha ha.

About 5 minutes away from our destination, Jake starts freaking out about not wanting to be buckled any more and that he was done.  I didn't think much about it.  We pulled into the parking lot of the store and he puked!  Seriously!  We had to get him cleaned up as best as we could and get his car seat cleaned up so he could ride home in it.  I'm hoping he was just car sick and he's not sick...

It only took a few minutes to get Jake's mattress and then we headed home.  I called in a pizza on the way and the pizza guy was at our door when we pulled up.  We ate pizza for dinner, I cleaned up Jake's smelly car seat, and we called it a night.

Lessons I learned today, always keep your gas tank at least 1/2 full and always charge your cell phone every night no matter what!

Halloween Party at Preschool

Yesterday, the weather was nice--not too hot and not too cold.  It was perfect Fall weather for Halloween.  This morning, we woke up to freezing cold snow!

Ryan had his Halloween party and parade at school today.  I wondered how the parade and trick or treating would work, but Miss Tiffany said we would just do everything in her garage.

Ryan went to school from 12:30-2:30p.  Jake and I came back at 2:30p to see Ryan and his class mates in their Halloween costumes and trick or treat.  It had stopped snowing so they did the parade and trick or treating as usual.

We were late getting out the door and Miss Tiffany said if we weren't back to her house by 2:30p we would miss the parade because it is so short.  We were just about to turn onto Miss Tiffany's street when I remembered I had forgot to grab Ry's trick or treat bag.  Miss Tiffany said the kids could use their back packs, but Ry is very particular and he loves his new trick or treat bag that I started to make but Grandma Sandra had to finish :)  SO, we turned back around and went and got Ry's bag.  Luckily, Miss Tiffany let the kids out a little late so we made it back with plenty of time to see the parade.  But, I had forgot to grab Jake's winter coat and only put his jacket on him so the poor kid was miserable.  I had at least remembered to grab his jacket--I forgot to grab a jacket for myself so I was freezing, too.

Ryan had the trick or treating thing down.  He went ahead of all of the other kids, would go to each of the parents, and say "trick or treat" and "thank you".  It was really fun to watch.
After the parade, all of the kids came and sat in the garage and sang a couple of Halloween songs.  Ryan has been asking for me to sing the witch song, but I had no idea what he was talking about until now.
Ryan with his jack o lantern to sing the 5 pumpkin song.
We ended up with so much candy after trunk or treating in Levan and trick or treating at Ryan's preschool!  I ended up putting the candy in a gallon zip lock bag and it would barely close!!

Ryan wanted to go outside and play in the snow after school.  Jim told him it was way cold outside, but Ry insisted on going out.  Ryan put his hands in the snow.  I think he forgot how cold snow is because even with gloves on his hands were cold and he was ready to come inside after about 10 minutes :)
